This is the opposite of a must-win game so it is the perfect time to make all the substitutes. There will be a lot of players out there determined to prove they deserve more starts or, for players temporarily moving up the lineup, more ice time. Should be a high-energy affair, second of a back-to-back notwithstanding.

The only thing I'm curious about is why Foligno needs rest?. The guy was off for almost 2 weeks and only played 3 games since then.

Probably for just this reason. He gets a night off on a back to back. We also get to see some other D in there, especially as Bogo may miss a round (which is horrible news).

I agree with giving players a rest down the stretch. Need to manage this for a playoff run. Nothing tricky, just a game off now and again for guys.

I like how they give maintenance days to everyone except the guys who probably need them the most: Thornton and Spezza.

Man imagine Dermott is a bit salty. All that time and games and he is bottom pair still to a guy with a handful of NHL games. Why not put Dermott up there and see what he has and switch if needed in game? We're gunna wait to lose him to expansion where he gets top 4 minutes and then realize he was good?

Good time to mix things up.. second game on a back to back against a Canucks team that hasn't been good this year who also played last night.

Fresh legs should hopefully give some jump.

Bit surprised Thornton is not only in but also on the top line ... Not sure his legs are that spry these days. Gally could have gone up on Matthews' line with Mikheyev on Tavares' line and Engvall on the third line, with Noesen drawing in.

Oh well not a big deal.

It's not really anyone else's fault that Sandin is better than Dermott. The better player should get the promotion, not the longer tenured player

Rather than have an all rookie pair, give the youngsters a more established d-man to play with.

I bet we'll see some very balanced TOI tonight.

Thats how they're listed but wouldn't be surprised to see them and the Sandin-Brodie pair about equal in icetime and the Hutton-Holl lagging just behind.

O-dog had the 'ole covid-20 (lbs) goin on. I do too so I know the feeling, but if I'm gonna be on TV I'd go far some regular jogs at least

Canucks fan bitching about TSN talking about the Leafs only.. Bruh it's a regional game lmfao. You don't think that happens everywhere?
