Zona and nucks match made in heaven. Boesar for chychrun plus other parts going back and forth.

This has been in the back of my mind as well, I think it would be great for both sides.

I don't see what's appealing about this for Arizona. They're a rebuilding team, what use do they have for an underperforming, overpaid winger on a short term contract?

Beginning to think your right on this, sadly.
It’s not about being sad or happy. $6.65mm is just way too much for this guy. He’s not a player befitting that contract and term.

If Vancouver retains $2mm, I think he’d be trade worthy for sure. He’s decent value at $4.65mm per. Then you can look past the back injury and other ailments. The defensive lapses. He gets points. He’s just a limited player you have to deploy in an offense to six role with PP time.

He’s got no bottom six skills or PK attributes.

I hope he gets his chance of scenery deal. If I were the wild, I’d offer Dumba for Boeser and Vancouvers 2nd rounder in 2023.

Risky deal for the Wild but that pick conveys in the late 30s is my guess. P

You still have a disdain for analytics despite the last 3 Cup winners?
Well I can also say the reason they had good analytics was because they won. It wasn’t that they won because they had good analytics

The famous “correlation doesn’t equal causation”…

Analytics are good to confirm something or perhaps uncover something , but by no means should it be the only method to evaluate a player/teams like some people do. Seriously, as much as people say “don’t just look at the points and stats”, those same people only look at “zone entries” and “goals saved above expected” and other things like that. They are doing the exact same thing as someone who looks at points, they just use a different stat/metric

Analytics in hockey is no where near as valuable as it is in baseball. In baseball, each play is a stop and go. It resets every pitch and there is a clear outcome on every play.

In hockey it’s far too random and continuous. If someone gets a knee high pass and misses the zone entry it counts as a failed zone entry when it wasn’t even his fault. The “danger chances” are extremely subjective and in total, there’s just so much interpretation to what constitute a dangerous shot or a zone entry or whatever. It doesn’t work nearly as well and some people only look at analytics to sound smart

They purposefully targeted players based on analytics that helped push them over the top, I'm not referring to players already on their teams having good analytics. Devon Toews was a critical add to the Avalanche for example, he's their number 2 Dman.

I guess when teams do this it really shows how much value they have in the player lol. Basically saying your awful and don't fit our system now find a trade yourself.

I don’t like Corsi. It rewards bad shots.

Agreed. And most of their top young players are wingers. It’s the area they don’t need to add to. Keller, Schmaltz, Crouse, Maccelli, Guenther, etc.

There’s zero chance the Coyotes are going to see Boeser as an appealing centerpiece to deal Chychrun. For them he would be an accounting makeweight.

Doesn’t mean Brock may not have some value elsewhere but don’t see the fit at all here unless he’s a salary and the main piece coming back is some other kind of valuable future asset pick or prospect(s).

Ehhh I mean maybe sometimes that could be the case, but here I really feel this is a case of doing right by the player.

I'm convinced that with the whirlwind of media attention, tragic life events, and generally how difficult it is to come back from injuries, Brock just has let it be known he would be amicable to a trade elsewhere, and the team is open to the idea, to accommodate the human, even if they would rather keep him. I think by bringing in the agent here it could also read "look we would rather keep you around to be honest, so it's not something we are willing to put the effort into, but if you can kickstart a process, then we'll explore it on your behalf".

I mean you’re not really saying anything…yea they added some good players who happen to have good analytics.

And here, you’re just mentioning the few guys they added. Why not mentions the other 18 players. They would have far greater impact cumulatively that the few they added.

Half these analytics are wrong anyways. It’s one guy in the stands saying “yea I guess that’s a shot” or “ yea that’s probably a zone entry”…if the initial data is bad, then the “analytics” that come from it will also be bad. If you put garbage in, you’ll get garbage out.
Not to mention that teams have the own proprietary analytics teams because they don’t trust what is out there. It’s all smoke and mirrors

After being a healthy scratch, I’m sure Vancouver fans will scream at me Boeser still gets a 1st plus.

Laughing out loud at the Vancouver projections of value on this awful contract.

Dude has no value at that AAV and term.

Vancouver either retains at least $1.65mm per or takes back a bad contract with a few years left on it. That’s how a Boeser trade will eventually look.
This is literally how almost any trade that will happen this season will occur. The question in Boeser’s case is whether or not Vancouver will get any + assets in a deal. At this point, exchanging his contract for an expiring one should probably be viewed as a win in order to allocate that money somewhere else going forward.

That’s a huge win for Vancouver.

For example, If Calgary called and offered Lucic for Boeser, Vancouver says yes so fast. That’s 2 years of $6.65mm in found cap space. Can resign Horvat.

Yah fair enough. Maybe he just feels he needs to move on and have a fresh start. I wish him the best whatever the outcome. Losing his dad was really tough on him.

Demelo, 2023 2nd and Riechel?
Reichel doesn't move much especially if Vancouver is retaining some. For cap reason I'd say Demelo with Harkins type guy to get the cap work, then probably a prospect and/or pick

As a Canucks fan I'd just be happy to get out of this contract.

He's a poor skater and as a result he can't forecheck or backcheck effectively. Often a step behind the play and his claim to fame wrist shot has basically disappeared since his rookie year.

If his production puzzles you that's because he has a points participation of 90% (how often he gets a point from a goal scored when hes on the ice), which is absurdly high and should regress. The best players in the league are hitting around 80%. Long story short his point production is a mirage. You could ask fans if Boeser played tonight and most wouldn't know but there will be an apple to his name. He's a ghost, floating around not doing anything particularly well. This hurts me to say I'm not just a hater.

Last year lots of Canuck fans were willing to give his play a pass given the tenuous situation of his passing father. Players are human it was a good excuse; However, this year his play looks no better. Actually it might be worse. Boeser has regressed and desperately needs a change of scenery - not confident he'll carve out a long career.

and we're giving up a 2nd, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You're dumping a 3 year cap dump for a 1 year cap dump. It's weird how the Canucks suck with all these super valuable players they have. Boeser has negative value. Look at what the Flames had to give up to dump Monahan and he's a center. Look at what Pacioretti brought back and he's a far better player with only this season remaining.

If there was a deal out there without a cap dump coming back for Boeser it would already be done.

It goes both ways, lot of clowns out there saying the guy has no value. Just coming on a 9 game point street. Average 65 points a season, I missed when those players started growing on trees?

Obviously Lambos and Rossi are no touch, but Greenway? 99% of Canucks followers would touch a 1 for 1 deal for him.

Just needs to be brought down a touch by both fan bases.
He has never scored more than 56. He averages 50 points per season. He's a very similar player to Ribeiro or Hoffman in that he only gives you points. He contributes nothing else. One dimensional big contract second liners who can't skate aren't in huge demand.

LOL Boeser would have 25 goals a season healthy on the Flames, even at 3 years being (supposedly) paid too much, Lucic is absolutely and completely useless. We could do better then that and we damn sure ain't giving up a 2nd.

I don't think you'll do much better than that offer. I also don't think he'd score 25 for the Flames. We are an offensively challenged group that relies mainly on shot metrics to compete.

Lucic is useless. We can agree on that. He's too tough for anyone to want to fight and it's the only thing he's still good at.

Boeser is getting healthy scratched on a bottom feeder and is not a player whose offense outweighs his defensive game. He'd be largely useful on the PP. Useless at 5 on 5.

Boeser for Lucic straight up would be a fantastic outcome for Vancouver to get you out of that bad contract 2 years early and no assets surrendered or retention on the AAV.

It’s a get out of cap jail two years early card.

At this stage, you know this season is a wasted one for Vancouver. That team is going no where. But a lottery pick in 2023 is a nice chance to add a killer young player. Seems the right year and time for Vancouver to make this type of exchange.
