I mean, it's kind of always been like this. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems like basically going back through his whole career, he generally only looks good, and plays that "simpler" game facilitating possession...when he's playing with Horvat. Even when Horvat isn't on a crazy hot streak. It's weird.
His style suits a cycling style of possession offense. Keeps him honest.

He's definitely most effective when he can use that darting quickness and agility in small areas, like working off the cycle like that. It just weirdly seems like he can't figure out how to do that effectively...until he's playing with Horvat, where he seems to just lock right in on it. Even with other "good players", he seems to start trying to play in space and ends up being a lot less effective.

Maybe it's just coincidence. But it seems like a pretty constant theme. Some weird chemistry going on there.

These mistake-filled, chippy, constantly-bouncing-puck games can only be won by playing hard, hitting a lot, blocking constantly, and shooting A LOT. You won't even get a sniff at the net if you're looking for fancy passes and a perfect set up before you shoot.

Unfortunately the Canucks aren't known for playing that kind of game this season. I don't have high hopes for the 3rd I'm afraid. This looks like exactly the kind of game that the Canucks drop. The sad part is that this game is highly winnable. If they actually got a bunch of shots in on this Sharks goalie a bunch would probably get by him, because he looks SOFT and UNFOCUSED.

Our only hope is if the Sharks take a bunch of penalties.

watching the Sharks feed and they've got some homeless dude sharing his perspective. It's like the homeless ethos has made it's influence to the TV personalities

I'm stunned!

No Friedman or Dhaliwal rumours lately of there being a lockerroom rift and "cliques" in the dressing room. No stories of Miller and Horvat throwing spinning heel kicks at one another. Haven't heard much from "Canuck community stalwarts" such as Buck Foston, Uncle Laleet, and Taj. JD Burke, where you at?

Anyways, regardless, Canucks need to buckle down here and put the Sharks away. These types of games can be dangerous (i.e. playing lightly against a weak team).

-edit: Sharks just scored. 1-1. Keep focused Nucks!
That play was all QH43 fault on the goal against. He f***ed around with the puck up ice at the blue line he had 3 chances to get it in deep but tried to make a play instead.

Too bad Mikheyev doesn’t have better hands.

Hands, and reliable goal-scoring instincts. Kind of all wrapped up together. It's pretty clear where his limitations are.

Oh well. Still a good, very useful player. Just one of those guys that's a bit frustrating because they can do everything pretty well...right up to the point of actually scoring the goal. So you're always just left wanting a little bit more...

For sure, a good player but I’ve seen him miss on a few great setups from EP.
