How do you explain the NHL? Canucks go into Denver after a soul-destroying meltdown against Vegas the game before, and come away with 4-3 win.

Meantime the Arizona Coyotes go into Raleigh and blank the 'Canes 4-0; while the Leafs, who hardly have a d-man left standing, go into the Meadowlands and end the Devils win streak with a 2-1 win. You could have won a lot of money picking those teams on the over-under.

Hockey is a very variance heavy sport.

Canucks have a poor skater roster and (probably) a top5 goalie. Yet they have one of the highest shootin% in the league this year while also sporting just about the worst save%.

I'm starting to think that this is what Horvat is - a 40+ goal scorer. So imagine how valuable he would be in the play-offs now. You just have to re-sign him somehow. Boeser has to go.
Respectfully, Myers and Pearson must go before Boeser. That’s almost 10M wasted right there.

Just saw the highlights of the Leafs Devils game, and watching the New Jersey fans through all that beer on the ice and on Toronto players, but don't worry Avs fans are the worst fans ever because one threw a candy bag on the ice and some candy may of bounced off EP.

JT-Bo are connecting for at least 1 goal in every game. EP and Hughes are racking up points. They have all kept the egregious turnovers to a minimum. 2ndary guys are mostly getting it done.

The big guns are showing up. Need Demko to not be ass, and a good, but not amazing, move around Myers & Boeser for a decent dman and 3c.

Meh.

I used to watch the games live, now I PVR them and can skip through. I have them all saved so I can go through when ever I want. Just saying it is like watching a rerun.

They were never going to lose them all, they did play good though Colorado just never seemed to put it together for extended stretches. I am a little surprised that Pettersson isn't getting more penalties though, he does a ton of holding.

They played good enough to win and deserved it. I won't even say it was lucky.

They're a top 10-13 team in the league. Look at the way they punted LA the other day, combined with how they should have beaten Vegas. And of course, tonight's victory. This team could very easily be 3-0 over the last 3 games. If they had received .900 goaltending all-season, combined with being able to hold leads, we'd basically be where Seattle is right now. Pettersson and Horvat are top 10 players in the NHL right now.
rose tinted glasses much? Demko is as integral part of this team as EP and Hughes are with that tire fire of a D corp. Without him going, this team is NOT a playoff team.

And what if Demko is going full Hasek? can this team beat the better teams in a best of 7? The team is badly built. Even with an average Demko, they are not a 10-13 team with variance factored, more like a 15-20 bubble team. But Demko is having an off year... so the team is a bottom third team as long as he is lost in the ether.

my review

the main thing is pettersson is all world at the moment and maybe taking over the team on the ice. his defensive play and all around situational awareness and positioning was on another level. his offense is not bad either. he is elevating the team and his line mates are starting to feed off it. i hope it continues.

lazar and joshua are also playing very focussed determined useful hockey which is giving the team some depth and more than one look.

garland is giving it his all as well but is getting creamed. i am a little worried about him.

bear scored a really good goal. really good. nothing like going bar down on an nhl goalie with a slapper from 45 feet away. reminds me of a goal ronning scored against hrudey years ago. happy for any dman to score a goal like that.

horvat i appreciate the offence but i do not see the all round player.

miller continues to play like he is really good but hung over or maybe has had a couple of beers. he seems to be in this endless cycle of stupid mistake followed by an individual effort at redemption.

myers continues to struggle in many situations but mostly get things done. it is like watching a different species play hockey and the unique adaptations they make.

it's really worth isolating on oel during games. he is a model of economy in efficient movement and effort. you might interpret that as doing only what is necessary to do his job. and i notice he is now off the pk so his job description is shrinking i feel bad for him that fans have not taken to him at all here. he seems like he might need a lift.

The Country Club got it done.

Avs were still the better team, Martin saved the Canucks, sounds like deja vu with Markstrom and Demko from previous years. When the Avs have the puck the speed they have is on another level then the Canucks, and then just their puck movement is on another level. Many times I felt it was like watching an NHL team take on an AHL team, I'm still shocked Canucks got the win, but again some of the saves Martin had to make because of the poor D really allowed them to get a W.

The Avs fan who threw that should be driven into a remote area of the Colorado Rockies, handcuffed to a tree and given only a rusty pen knife.

hyperbole much? Avs were a better team for 2 periods, they were the worse team in the third.

Sheldon Dries is proving to be an NHL player
Hard not to feel good for Sheldon Dries.....never gave up on his hockey dreams and had a breakthrough year in the AHL with Abbotsford last season. Undrafted after a four year NCAA career at Western Michigan, he bounced around the Dallas and Colorado minor league systems.

But looks to have found a home in Vancouver, at least until Tanner Pearson gets back. But he might even stick after that because he can play center in a pinch.

One (mostly lucky) win over a good team and suddenly we have a "top 5 goalie" and are a "top 10 team" to some of the true believers. I think both our goalies are dog shit and the rest of the team is playing like a badly conducted orchestra with sheer talent garnering a goal now and then. The plumbers are doing fine but some of the rockstars are just not even pretending to give a shit. Barfsville!

Huh no exaggeration here did you actually watch the game? They were still flying in the 3rd in case you missed it, Martin made a crazy save to keep them in it, you may want to watch the highlights and not just the boxscore.

what if he doesnt want to be here? management didnt even engage his agents in toronto when they were there recently. He is gonezo.

Imagine how valuable he would look for those 4 or 5 games in the 1st round

This board seriously becomes unbearable when we win lol we won one game against a decimated Avs squad.

not to mention they clanked 6 shots off posts and crossbars that clearly got by Martin. We were very very lucky to not get killed by 4-5

We have a comedian here ladies and gentlemen.

top 10?? This team is top 3 in sports bar none, best team since 80s Oilers....heart passion grit and skillzzz whhooooooo...we beat the Cup champs which means we ARE the cup champs now!!!
NOW we are on the same page. Good to have you aboard.

I don't understand these new age posters.

They make excuses for when we win and yet don't allow for excuses when the Canucks lose.

Really bizarre stuff. You know its bad when fanbases from other teams actually tell Canucks fans on here to 'chill' in attacking their own team.

Horvat's number could have started with a 6 if the time prioritized him in the summer, I firmly believe that.

Hansen wondered out loud if the team is playing for their own gain, who knows who he's pointing his finger at. IF he was locked in this summer, is he suggesting we won't see this Horvat maybe? I hate to think like that of the captain, but Hansen is getting up there in the call-it-as-he-sees-it meter with Ferraro.

He played quite a bit for the Avs but yes credit to him
