Hughes is only 2 points behind Makar. Hughes gets a lot of assists because he is a zone exit machine. Zone exits are less flashy, but probly just as valuable as what Makar does.

Makar is #1 defenseman on any NHL team. He plays in every situation and tilts the ice in his favour, no matter his match up. PP, PK. Doesn't mater. He plays and gets the job done. Quinn is basically only good at the PP with a muffin shot. Those two are not comparable at all.

Only good at the PP? is that why he's 9th in ES points since entering the league among D? You don't need to put Hughes down to prop up Makar.
