Hughes is only 2 points behind Makar. Hughes gets a lot of assists because he is a zone exit machine. Zone exits are less flashy, but probly just as valuable as what Makar does.

OK. How different would Hughes stats be if he was playing for he Avs? The same? Every facet of a defenceman's game will improve going from a bad team to an elite team.

Sure, he’d probably have some better stats but he’s not nearly as dominant at either end of the ice…this shouldn’t even be a discussion. Makar is a FAR superior player than Hughes…this is not a slight against Hughes, its giving Makar the credit he is due.
