Rumor: Canucks and Devils talking Zacha for Dickinson trade

Hopefully with the Canucks losing to the Ducks tonight it pushes the timetable ahead with their GM wanting to wait until they know if they are in the playoffs or not. I’m not cheering for the Canucks to lose or be a dick, I just want to see some trades sooner than later.

I mean, our point of reference was Jay Beagle at 3.25 and Brandon Sutter at 4.33.
Personally I wasn't excited - Benning's trade acquisitions were 90% a failure, add this to the list

I mean excited is a bit extreme… we were ready for a change and new 3rd line centre. Which here we are and still no legit 3rd line centre lol.
Ironically a healthy (cheaper) Sutter would’ve been the right fit.

I dont mind it, we also get some cap room from that deal. approx 5 mill in cap space
I also really like what Mcleod brings and dont like what Boeser brings to the table
Not sure who that was, we could have gotten someone like Richardson as a UFA who would have served us far better. Was yet another stupid move by the former GM...he was allergic to draft picks and wanted quick fixes by trading picks and recently drafted players for older players and it almost never worked out.
We are in a hole and this TDL we better trade some guys and recoup some assets instead of standing pat!
Thank goodness you aren't responsible for making the trades for the Canucks. You should take a look at the Devils board sometimes. Both Zacha and Mcleod are players they don't even want to keep.

McLeod is very good 4C and we have no problem keeping him. I don’t know if he can improve to a real 3C, though he just turned 24 in February and has only played 131 NHL games. The doubt is more about his offensive ceiling.
He’s a key PK guy (he leads forwards in SH ice-time) on a unit that went from one of the worst in modern NHL history last season to 7th in the NHL right now. (And that’s despite having a team .884% SV%, second worst in the league.)
That return is definitely just random stuff though. I don’t see any team giving Zacha a long term deal above his 3m QO so he doesn’t have much value as a unsigned RFA a year away from UFA.
So basically the Devils need to be willing to take on Dickinson for nothing, which is his actual value?

In fairness, I think most of the board actually likes Mikey and want to keep him. But we also know that he's a 4c and not really more than that (maybe there's a 3c ability). When we are upset with Mikey it's usually because ruff is playing him more than Jack for some reason lol
But when Mikey is played correctly, we are fine with him

Boeser with Hughes will make Canuck fans shed tears. He might be a bit slow but he can snipe and i almost guarantee he would get 40 if he went to Jersey and they put those 2 together. You just cannot ask Boeser to drive a line if you want him to be in his ideal spot he's not built that way. He's purely a sniper but with a puck controlling playmaking C like Barzal or Hughes he will light it up
Was our MVP last year and people are down on him because both himself and Pettersson spent the off season modelling, brand building, chasing bunnies or whatever it was instead of in the gym and on the ice getting better and it's showed on the ice and unfortunately caved our season in many respects as they needed to take steps forward for the team to progress and now new management has to find ways to light a fire and make some changes to the roster composition that looks and is slow overall
Brock is young and will bounce back. The big question is how much does he want to get paid. Is he willing to take less than his QO. Zacha seems like a big step down so i'm not sure those 2 make any sense as the headliners. Does nothing to help the PP and help an anemic offense for Vancouver and the team with the best player almost always wins the trade unless teams are going in different directions.

Something Ive noticed thru these proposals with the Devils fans is they seem to be the most balanced and level headed of the many teams the Canucks are rumoured to be trading with (ie Rangers, Minny, Toronto, Etc), and that aint easy cause us Canucks fans can be pretty brutal ourselves lol
