Glaring weaknesses have been exposed 28% of the payroll is carrying 95% of the team. As time goes on the games get tougher. Willie looks like he doesn't want to get his uniform dirty and as much as I like JT, he ain't worth the price we paid. Defensive zone giveaways aren't improving and we don't have a goalie that will steal us a win anymore. Hoping Campbell hasn't become chicken soup. If MM & AM get overplayed, burnout before the playoffs is a real concern. For now, the team is doing fine and when I say the team, I am only talking about 2 players. Something better change or it'll be the same old, same old come spring time.

If Robertson plays well up to the TDL I want him up. We need someone with his shot and finishing ability. Only Matthews is finishing off chances consistently on this team.

The worst part was that I was actively just chirping the Canucks fans and they had nothing, but we just couldn't pull it off. This is the first Leafs game I've been to that has resulted in a loss

I'm not 100% convinced of that, but you are not invited with that attitude

The point here was really that when the puck gets below the goal line with any amount of pressure they are disasters.

To all the Leafs fans that attended the game in Vancouver you guys got your monies worth! The Leafs put on a gun blazing show for you!

i feel For the Vancouver fans that paid to watch the Leafs pillage their team like that.

great entertainment for Leafs fans.
Awful showing for Vancouver fans.

One of the bigger pieces of encouragement is special teams .. the PP seems more dynamic this year and the PK has been very steady. Special teams battles in the playoffs are huge.

No surprise there. They finally stopped with the Marner predictable point man syndrome and have him and Willie play the centre/half wall while threatening the cross crease to Matthews. Literally the only thing that could make the PP better would be a PP QB with a shot like Makar.

We're not really getting "Goalied" but Demko and Markstrom were great the past couple of nights.

It's more of a three step process.

1) Everyone retreats to clog the slot from the faceoff dots down
2) concede perimeter shots
3) then create mismatched rebound scramble plays in the slot where you have numbers and body positioning.

If I were to coach a game against the Leafs, that would be the way to beat them.

Leafs need to pull apart these static defenses, create cross seam plays and make the other team fear standing around and not let them set up for siege mode.
I agree with you 100 percent. The problem is, they have been trying this strategy and when the teams collapse and take away the seam it comes down to goaltending for the opposing team and bounces of rebounds for us (off blocked shots and goalies). We need to start finishing more. The chances are there for the taking.

Sometimes you get goalied, sometimes you goalie the other team

Play the game 10 times, that was the 1 loss, you win 9 others playing like that.

Anyone figure out why Kerfoot was basically benched?

It feels like in 95% of the teams losses over the last 2+ years, they deserve a better fate. Including the playoffs.

As much as losing sucks any game, it’s hard to feel bad about it when that’s the case.

I feel bad.
