Impressed with the Canucks effort tonight. Especially with 5 D. Outside of Sbisa's gaffes

Outplayed the Ducks. They don't seem like theyre going to be a legit contender. Their D isn't great and their F group after the big 2 isn't great. Can't see them going deep into the playoffs. Going to be hilarious seeing Kesler walk as a FA after next season...

I wouldn't write the Canucks off vs them in a 7 game series.

Id say Canucks in 4.

Good job boys, they played well, should've won this game.

After the 5 minute mark of the 3rd they looked gassed, especially Bieksa and Tanev. Sucks to lose this game in a SO but with that effort I can't complain.

Lack played very well too, real happy with him.

A good performance for sure.

I wish Horvat could be that guy each night and continue to take strides, in which case, he should be flipping places with Richardson, IMO.

Massive concern for Hammer. Huge hole for team long term, and I have to believe he is out long term. Can't be replaced this year.

Takes all the positive out of this start to season for me if it is a long term one. Just Ugh

I was expecting the Canucks to give up a goal in the third. Just based on their attacking style. It makes it easy to counter. However, surprisingly, the Canucks tried to defend their way to a win. That's encouraging. They were able to switch styles effectively (4 shots).

This. Glad to see we can play situational hockey.

Yea I had no idea they only gave up 4 shots, i think they still revert to av style hockey with the lead, I know willie just said he feels they sit back a bit to much in the 3rd, but they did a pretty good job, hard to be critical on 4 shots.

key word; tried.

back to the drawing board.

sitting back against the ducks is bad strategy.. giving them easy entry to your zone and puck possession is asking for trouble.

Lol he mad

He grew up in Michigan, like it's any sunnier there

This team needs another top-4 defenseman that can move the puck out. Figures. The one year when we finally have forward depth, our defense is lacking.

Fun game though. This team is fun to watch this year even when they lose.

Yes I can see both points of view though, you keep pushing perhaps you dont score and you give up a bad odd man rush that still results in a goal.

I understand both sides, willie doesnt like them sitting back yet, but I would be lying if I said we didnt do a decent job of it from 2012-2013 under av..

I think they had to with 5 d.

Man the Ducks are nothing compared tp the Kings. And Keslet is still.the same selfish POS he was here. Second time in a back to back and 3 points. Not nearly as good as I expected.

By which I mean the Ducks. Impressed by canucks tonight. Expected a blow out even before Hamhuis went down.

Pure speculation but that looked like a knee ligament injury for Hamhuis. Reminded me of all the football ACL/MCL tears that we've seen this year (2 on post-sack celebrations).

Non-contact and the player goes down in a heap.

Hopefully I'm wrong. But that would be devastating if that were the case.

I dont know much about the injury but he was seen walking with a big limp at the moment, if that were the case would he be walking on it whatsoever? I do not know?

Not a pro but don't tears usually result in less pain than Hamhuis was showing?

for me it's more about just this game. you beat the ducks by hemming them in their own zone which we did all game. why stop if it's working? that's what bothered me about tonight. if they keep playing the style that got them the lead, this is an easy win IMO.

Horvat - Clearly doesn't want to go back to London. Did everything he could tonight to force Willie D's hand and let the "tryout" roll on. Solid defensive game, right up in the play and some real jump offensively, and the goal obviously, which was a pretty wicked 1st NHL goal to notch.

Edler - The epitome of being "A Horse" tonight. 32 and a half minutes. Just ice in his veins tonight too. So calm and composed. This is the Edler that earned himself some Norris votes once upon a time.

Tanev - Right there with him. Still not really an offensive entity, but defensively and in transition he does such good work.

Sbisa - 24 and a half minutes and a good batch of really nice plays. Was seriously worried about him coming off injury, didn't know what to expect. But he was solid tonight. Outmuscled by Getzlaf just as the puck came through on the one goal, but there were bigger issues on that play, like Weber doing nothing about his check on the wall.

Bieksa - Had his obligatory wtf moments, but also had some moments where you could practically feel him setting the tone for the comeback. All in all, a good outing despite the miscues. I can live with the derps, if the nice moments outweigh the disasters.

Weber - Horrendous to start the game. Both the first two goals are on him playing incredibly soft. But he cleaned things up a lot as the game went on and they went down to 5 guys. Though really, they went down to 4.5 guys as Weber really didn't play a huge amount later in the game.

Matthias - Probably playing the best hockey of his life right now. I don't know what spurred it on, but i like it and i hope it continues. Still doesn't have a lot of natural creativity and vision on the ice...but he's big, strong, and fast...and tonight he used that to every advantage.

Vey - Honestly like him better on that 2nd line than Burrows. Doesn't bring the same defensive acumen obviously, but he looked as comfortable as he ever has on the Wing tonight, battled hard on the wall...made smart plays most of the time, and added a real different creative element to the cycle game of Bonino and Higgins. Twice now this line has been put together, and twice they've looked really good. I say it's a keeper, for an extended look at least. The offensive instincts are clearly there with Vey to be a top-6 forward in the NHL...hopefully the rest will continue to develop.

Sedins - Line had the puck on a string at times. Vrbata looks to have some real jump back in his step after whatever it was that knocked him out for a bit. Good to see. The Twins themselves, vintage Sedinery...unlucky not score the winner in OT too, so close. Some careless turnovers trying to do too much at times...but it's hard to argue with it when a bunch of those potential turnovers turned into good chances for.

Dorsett and Richardson - Both guys just unsung heroes tonight. All over the ice, physical, smart, right in the lanes where they needed to be...and under the radar offensive contributions, including Dorsett's beautiful feed on Horvat's goal.

Another very good performance. Seems like 3 goals or more is all but an inevitability with this Canuck team. Huge to get a point out of a game where you trail by 2, against an elite team.

Hopefully Horvat can build off this game and play with more confidence now that he's scored. A couple more games like tonight and the Canucks will have no choice but to keep him up. Get the kid with Kassian already.

Starting to wonder if the Canucks have something in Weber. Definitely feel more confident with him on the ice than with Bieksa. Could be on the cusp of really solidifying himself as a full time NHL player. Great skater, strong on his feet, decent at moving the puck, big shot and positionally starting to round into form.

If this coaching staff can keep Edler rolling, they're worth their weight in gold. He's playing some of his best hockey in the last 4 years. Such an important player for this group now and going forward.

Have to like where this team is 20 games into Willie Desjardins tenure. Hopefully they can keep it rolling.
