Yes, there is no reason for other fans to dunk on JR and the Pens because he brought about as much success as a team in a league of some parity can be expected to bring. No matter how bad it gets from here out, he was exceptionally successful. Even Pens fans that are mad at some of the things JR does would do well to step back and consider that.

JR pushed them over the top to win multiple Stanley Cups during a time where their window had been open for a while and they were unable to break through. I mean without JR you're looking at a Pens squad that probably only wins one Stanley Cup during the Crosby/Malkin era, which would not exactly be sitting well up there right now.

But man, once they start falling off that competitive high, things are going to unravel fast, and they don't have the pipeline to fix it anymore. And.... things might have started to unravel last year.

True, but look how quickly the NYR, who had no pipeline, an aging core, and a number of toxic assets, is turning things around. I don't think JR is the guy to do that though and he likely won't be.

Yeah but people actually want to live in NYC, and there are ways to make a lot of money that isn't necessarily hockey related.

I don't think people are going to be breaking down the doors to live in and play for Pittsburgh with what would likely be a rapidly declining Crosby and Malkin

Don't worry, Bettman will make sure they get another generational player to draw players to Pittsburgh.

I'm not going to say that they did the same for us with Svech, but there are a couple of similarities (relocation rumors, apathetic fanbase, pitiful attendance, recent sale) between what happened there in the early 2000s and what happened here last year.

Then again, the NHL didn't make sure we got 4 top picks (MAF, Malkin, Crosby, JStaal) to hammer it home, so f*** the Pens

Mike Vellucci, come on down! I've never thought the "unique opportunity" he spoke of was being GM of the WB Pens. I believe all along, he was pitched the GM job with the big club as a "next in line" thing. Of course, Ron Francis might have other ideas (needing a coach in Seattle and all), but I firmly believe JR sold him on the heir apparent thing for the Penguins front office job.....but that's just me speculating.

Bill Daly's face when the McDavid lottery pick went to the Oilers on live TV is all you need to see to know that the NHL doesn't rig the draft lottery.

As for us, ultimately, we had had a lot of different bites at the apple. Eventually we got the worm. And maybe that analogy doesn't work quite right.

Could only assume a return of Kase would come if Faulk agrees to an extension
with Anaheim, because the Ducks aren’t giving him up for a rental.
Would Faulk sign an extension?
I’d think not, but if Anaheim offers the bucks?
Gardiner thought he’d get 7-8m per & what happened?
