The CIA has fewer rules than this message board.

Incorrect. Don't ask me how I know. I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you.

Please note that this in no way represents that I am, have been, or ever was a member of the CIA or did anything other than read a lot of Tom Clancy as a kid. I did, however, take a class in undergrad from the guy who was Chief of Staff of the CIA during the Reagan administration.

The Canadian media was hammering away at the gate revenue mark a lot yesterday. I was listening to Montreal radio earlier today and Pierre McGuire brought up that $21 mil figure. It's not surprising that they think the Canes are in a really perilous financial situation.

Just looking at that number is lazy, though. Closing the gap is what revenue sharing is for. The subsidy arena management deal goes towards bridging that too, in a way.

It seems to be just the eastern Canadian media that is so anti-hockey in the south. In fact, I was driving a couple Saturday mornings ago and decided to listen to a sports radio show out of Vancouver to keep up with day 2 of the draft. The host was angry that the Canucks didn't weaponize their cap space while repeatedly praising for the Canes for the Marleau move. He was also irate about the Miller trade and couldn't figure out how it made sense for a rebuilding Canucks to give up a 1st rounder for a player they felt was somewhat of a cap dump. The listeners kept calling in angry stating "There must be more to the trade we don't know about" and the host had to keep stating over and over that the trade was final and there were no more pieces involved.

they were only praising the Canes move because they "got one up" on the Leafs

If there's two things the non-Ontario Canadian hockey media is more obsessed with than bashing Sunbelt teams, it's bashing Toronto and talking **** over who "won" a trade.

Luckily it's only a nuisance for one-ish calendar year regarding cash flow, but it pretty much evens itself out the last 3-4 years.

Now they're complaining because the Canes haven't officially matched yet and they want to see the next offer sheet.

Awwwwww, isn't that precious
Oh man my mentions blew up today when I basically said 'because as far as the Canes are concerned, f*** you, that's why' to that kind of whining this morning.

I'll tell you what, they did NOT appreciate that mindset. Which is ironic given everything they said to us yesterday and... Well hell, going a long ways back but lately for all the QC crap.
