I was expecting TT to be a waste of a shooter in the shootout with the way he's been playing so far this season, but I think it's fair to compare him scoring a beautiful goal in the shootout (the first from the team in the shootout) with this scene:

Is TT back? Or is it too soon to hope?

That is almost certainly a lot of bad early luck for these three, however, I think it's amazing that they're still winning like this without the shooting luck on their side.
To be fair KK doesn’t have much of a shot. Longest wide up in the league

Kotkaniemi is... not producing to say the least. Of course Hab fans will pile on as shitting on former players is all they have coming up on their 30th anniversary of winning nothing. They want it to go back to a 6 team league so they have a chance. I feel their frustration. And by feel, I mean revel in it.

With Rod determining ice time yeah of course, but I would play JK’s line more than Staal’s 5v5

If your goal was to win games, you wouldn't. In fact, I'm confident that no NHL coach would right now.
  • Staal is miles better than KK defensively.
  • Staal's line is the best possession line on the team.
  • KK is scoring at a rate worse than every member of Staal's line, while playing with the two most productive players on the team.
  • KK's individual possession numbers aren't any better than Staal's, Martinook's or Fast's while playing against inferior competition with more o-zone starts.
Any coach that looks both at stats and eye test would not play that line over Staal's line based on KK's play to date.

22-year-old playing 2C on our best line who's been decent in 2-way play, snakebit a bit on the scoring side, and plenty of room to either be our 3C long-term or our 2C long-term if he can figure out the offensive side. The contract will be a steal for either role. Not a perfect player but well worth a late 1st and a late 3rd (a late 1st only has a ~50% chance to play 100 games in the league, KK is well worth that).

I'd certainly rather have him at 22 for 8 more years at a reasonable contract than Dvorak for 3 more until he's a UFA. Locking in for 8 years at that number with the way revenue and inflation are both growing? It's a nice deal.
