I just hope after the draft if Michkov goes say 4th to San Jose, someone in the media asks if they would have taken Michkov 5th if he fell to them.

I really need to know.

Because all I know at this time, with 100 percent clarity, is that I personally couldn't pass on him. And I need to get my head right with this decision, which either way they choose to go.

Call me crazy, but It's just emphatically how much I believe in Michkov.

He's a mountain I'm willing to die on. I'm really hoping our scouts feel the same.

Are you serious? Do you actually believe that a GM would honestly answer a question asking if they'd rather have the guy that went 4th instead of the guy that they picked at #5?

I see no problem with it.

Let's say the sharks take Smith instead, and he was also the guy the habs would have wanted if he fell to them, only they couldn't because San jose did. That would be no offense given to who the habs do pick.

Say Hughes says he would have gladly picked whoever was left in the top 5. Because on his draft board he would have been pleased with any of them.

It wouldn't make whoever's left at 5 look any less desirable. It would just be the nature of the position of the pick.

Murray essentially did this to Eichel after Buffalo lost the McDavid sweepstakes. Is it any small wonder Eichel wound up hating Buffalo? The team all but said "you're only here cause we lost the guy we actually wanted."

If we take someone else because Michkov got picked earlier, you sell it as though that kid was always on your radar even if it's a damn lie. There's zero reason to make the kid feel unwanted.

When it's an obvious pick like McDavid, Crosby or Bedard GM's openly admit it's the guy they want. However when it comes to picks like #4 or #5 it's just not happening. No GM would ever say that they'd rather have the other guy.

OK. You're crazy!

Sorry...you asked.

Yeah but HabbyGuy really needs to know.

You all believe whoever the habs take at 5 would take offense knowing the habs would be ecstatic with whoever was left at 5? (which ofcourse includes them)

You're all one sensitive bunch. :)

Seriously. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

They can frame their answer as if they got the guy they wanted no matter who they get after the fact anyway. No matter if Hughes was comfortable with whoever was left.

You're all a little too 'woke' on this one methinks.

Sigh.

This is NOT what we'd be saying. I'm thinking you're all off base on this. What we'd be saying is... This is the guy we always wanted, (whoever we pick) we're stoked he was there! But if he was unfortunately off the board, despite being disappointed, we would of had no issue with drafting another. (in this case Michkov) It's a fantastic draft full with talent, etc... bla bla bla...

Capische?

That's it, that's all.

What's the issue with this? How could anyone be offended by that? We're telling him, he's the one we wanted, how would any draft eligible prospect be so obtuse to the fact that there are other options avaliable to us at the top of a draft, IF we weren't fortunate enough for him to fall to us?

Maybe I am crazy? Because I literally don't see the issue.

So if someone could explain to me, how in the context this answer was framed, where the fault is, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'd honestly love an answer. Because you're all making me question my sanity, and I don't like it. lol

I'm getting old over here, :wally: and the fear of an early onset of dementia is real. ;)

HAHAHAHAHAH f*** the smokescreen and the distractions and the deflections

Michkov is the right choice at 5th.

Who the f*** do they think we are? Like we're gonna believe any of that bullshit and let us deviate from the obvious plan.

All of these magicians can go f*** themselves.
"I don't like it therefore it's bullshit".

MTL and michkov is such a perfect fit for each other I can't see him wanting to go anywhere else besides Washington if he had a choice.

I hope Hugo gets a chance to interview him at some point. If michkov has his eyes on MTL he will let them know then and there. Can't see Hugo saying no thanks after that

I'm not concerned Michkov would want to play for Montreal, I'm concerned that a) He won't be available at our pick or b) We somehow incredulously pass on him.

He is as you say the perfect fit!

I wonder why washington , Kuz wants to leave , Backstrom is done Ovy will be retired by then , and Wsh on a huge rebuild

The russian era was started with Ovy , not sure if it will stay we'll see

Yeah, the team will get pretty down low when Ovy will retire. Ok let's say in 3 years maybe no ore Ovy and any of the good era Backstrom, etc. Michkov will land in one of the worst nhl team, right? Or at best a good typical Metropolitain defensive and strong team like the Islanders or the Devils. But Wash will not flash at all. Except if Michkov is The promise future star. There's a feeling of overblown in this pick, (some fans are getting mad about him). He's five foot and 8 inches don't you forget. We'll see in 6 years what will be his translation into NHL.

Given Michkov's rumoured attitude issues actually he might take great offense and pull a tantrum.
