I love you guys but holy shit the insanity in this thread on so many levels from so many walks of life. The entitlement is f***ing hilarious too.

Go Habs go!
When you check the calendar and there’s still 8 more days of this…

As paying customers and fans of the greatest franchise in the history of sports, I think we're entitled to competence and entertainment.

If you're giving money to someone, you actually are allowed to feel a little entitled, believe it or not.

The Canadiens organization, conversely, is not entitled to our money and our eyeballs for ad revenue if they don't produce a compelling product.

@Kennerback

Hello sir, i would like to answer your post about 1-5 to hit and 6-10 to bust and the three players. I cant answer in the draft thread so i write to you here.

I do agree with your point but there is a flaw here that needs to be assessed.

In your analysis, you assume player 1-5 are Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith and Michkov while the rest are the players 6-10. Therefore you conclude that there is a way better hit rate if we pick one of those 5 and that picking Dvorsky, Leonard or Reinbacher based on this data would be a mistake.

The thing is, these player are not the surefire top 5. Public list and team list are two things. And to conclude to the data you point on, the player has to be drafted to be assigned a rank. It means nothing from a player profile pre-draft. Its simply all about the hit rate about each giving pick.

Therefore, it says nothing about the potential hit-rate of Dvorsky versus Smith for example. And Dvorsky Leonard and Reinbacher are not the 6-10 players until they are. Just like Michkov, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith and Michkov are not the 1-5 until they are.

Add to the fact that regardless we're ALL entitled to our opinions.

Adding believe or not is as entitled as it gets, lol. And the delusion that is still the greatest franchise in the history of sports is a joke.

I would love for the Habs to be what we all think they are but you don’t have 2 fluke cups in just over 40 years when you are that.

I am just realistic and see the Habs as any other team in this watered down league. I hope they can build a championship but it’s harder than ever. The CH is just another corporate logo at the end of the day, and pro sports is a reality tv show that people are emotionally attached to. I know, because I am one of those people, I just try to remind myself that.

Neither has Slaf, who ended his season with a monstrous 40gp injury, which is the problem. Nemec and Jiricek were both there.

The fact is we need players with ceilings above Suzuki and Caufield. If after two years of hardcore tanking the Habs don't have a single better forward prospect than Caufield, that's a big L.
That will change when they are gonna draft Dvorsky or Benson... Oh wait

Yes he did but still take the risk anyway and reap the rewards later Kent b'y.
That’s an easy position to take from where we’re standing. ;)

From my perspective, I’d be satisfied if they conduct an appropriate due diligence and then let the chips fall where they may in their war room. Looking forward to the behind the scenes sound bytes after that.

I don't discredit wanting a high octane offensive forward.. I've been starved for it just like everyone else.

But if they're passing on Michkov, they're passing on Michkov... one thing you realize is that you can't expect someone to have the same risk tolerance as you, especially when you have 0 skin in the game and aren't privvy to all the information.

After that, we just have to hope that they get the right player..
I mean if they don't want to take a risk on Michkov then why make an even more bigger risk with Slaf first OA and completely rushed his progression as usual, how is this a bigger risk at 5?

Drafting a bust is far more forgivable than bullheadedly skipping on a star prospect.

You have earnestly said that all Michkov does is Michigan goals so I don’t think you are being genuine here.
That is an amazing post.
I wouldn't care less if it doesn't pan out than missing a big opportunity at the position we are at.

This team needs better player than Suzuki and Caufield but none of Benson or others after top 5 will be at that level

Would be so reminiscent of past regimes. This can’t be true, can it? I feel it is.
It isn’t until it is. This regime is still enjoying a honeymoon.

Who knows if the Michkov outcome will cause that first major rift.

How was Slaf a bigger risk? We were entering a draft partly tainted by the lack of scouting due to COVID and we were working in what was universally pegged as a weak draft crop.

Did they not take a risk on Mesar? How about Hutson? Engstrom? Where does Hutson now rank among our best prospects in the pipeline?

Respectfully, what happened in last year’s draft has little to no bearing on this year. Plus we have Bobrov as co-head of scouting — any risk they end up taking will be as well calculated as you’re going to get.

Going to be a long week waiting for this to finally be over. Might as well just relax, Hughes has shown himself to be smart, that doesn't mean Michkov is the correct answer as the Habs will likely know a lot more about the situation then anyone on this board and perhaps most NHL teams. So while it seems to escape some, if the Habs pass on him, it could be for a good reason. Or maybe they trade up with the Jackets to get Smith since it sounds like that's who they want. Either way I don't trust what anyone is saying as the Habs seem to be very tight lipped as we saw from last summers draft. Who the f*** knows what they are up to, why get all defensive over something that might not even happen?

So MTL is going with essentially with one of 3 or so rumored players at this pick

This is Dregerian type insight
Just like some of us are essentially taking the word of one of 3 scouting services and guess which one won’t even be on the list.
