Here's the all time point leaders for U-19 players in the NL's history.

Not exactly a lot of top flight players regardless. Kind of like saying a Slovenian prospect was only outproduced by Anze Kopitar.

The Toronto model, I like it!

What a backwards way of looking at it. If you can pin down our Matthews, Marner and Tavares on this squad I'd surely love to hear it. Because we are void of talent at that calibre. Sure Suzuki, Caufield and Dach are talented, but they are not in the same category as those 3.

You also can't equate Toronto's failure onto us because of the assinine contracts Dubas' shortsightedness caused. The fact we have our better talented players signed long term will only help us in the future.

Hugo and MSL want to play an offensive high tempo game, you need the horses to do that, our stable, is not well stocked in that regard. Building a contender from the floor up does not begin by using high equity pieces like a top 5 pick for complimentary pieces, those are used for the studs of said stable, not the clydesdales.

He’s a better skater than Dvorsky and Benson. He doesn’t make braincramps or look confused like Leonard. He keeps his game simple. As long as we keep our projection of his upside low (a 3rd or 4th D) he might still be the safest pick.

He's a high floor, high upside prospect.

If rumor is true Washington is gunning for Michkov, there are just two things that need to come together for us to get Carlsson, aside from Bedard and Fantili going 1-2:

Washington trades for SJ's pick and Columbus drafts Smith.

If we go for Reinbacher at 5 guys its because our front office sees something more than a safe 3/4D... Its kinda obvious.

His BPA case, whether you agree or not, is a rock solid, mobile top pair RD who can contribute offensively and be on the ice for 25-26 min a night against others teams top line and PK.

McCagg as the Habs passing on Michkov and as them taking Leonard in his mock draft and thinks it's either gonna be him or Reinbacher. He as Michkov going 6th to Arizona.

If it does play out like that then Bill Armstrong as much bigger balls than anyone in the Habs organization.

I don't think McCagg has any inside information on how the scouts are viewing the Michkov situation. He was always himself super leary of Michkov, and is convinced Michkov's Dad was probably killed to try to get Michkov to stay in Russia longer. So I don't give any credence to McCagg's mock draft.

But, Montreal could definitely pass on Michkov in favor of Leonard or Reinbacher. No question about that.

What if I told you that Ryan Leonard and David Reinbacher aren't complementary pieces?

What if I told you I disagree?

That's fine but a team taking anyone in the top 10 isn't drafting a complementary player, they are drafting someone they think has legitimate impact for their roster long term.

The same arguments to detract Leonard are the same arguments I used to detract from Brady Tkachuk, does anyone think he's a complementary player?

Leonard then, please.

Michkov is a pipe dream at this point. All of the noise surrounding it feels very Wright-ish last year when the tide turned and it was overwhelming how much we weren't taking him.

I don't want Reinbacher even a little.
I don't either @ 5. If the Habs were drafting 7-10th I'd be 100% ok with taking Reinbacher but just not @ 5.

I really want one of these top forwards this year and preferably Michkov, but that doesn't seem likely, so I want Leonard @ 5 if Michkov is a no go. I wouldn't be mad at Benson either but would rather Michkov or Leonard.

I'm not sure you can use a known as evidence of an unknown.

Are you guaranteeing me Leonard is a Tkachuk?

Just give me the one with the highest upside.

We're clearly not going to agree on this.

If both players hit their proverbial ceilings, Michkov vs Leonard than you can argue who would be the best fit for your team, until then you should choose the one with the greatest upside.

Yep I feel the exact same way. If we are set on taking a D, Reinbacher or Sandin Pellikka, then trade down.

Reinbacher could become a great D for all I know, he just doesn't excite me and feels very, very vanilla.

Probably right and he also said he as no info on who the Habs are gonna take at the draft this year but he seems to be leaning Leonard with the other option maybe being Reinbacher.

Nicolas Cloutier was on a podcast on TVA Sports. He was one of the few journalists who were at the combine.

No Michkov in his opinion.

He said what he’s heard is that Smith would be the guy for Hughes.

If he’s not there at 5 he said the habs has Reinbacher and Leonard as their guys.

In his opinion before the combine Reinbacher would’ve been in front of Leonard because he’s a RHD but after the combine he’s not so sure, he’s heard Reinbacher apparently had a difficult interview with the habs and think the habs could turn to Leonard because he would fit better in the montreal market, Might think Reinbacher could not take Montreal pressure because of his personality type.
