Hello everyone

Here is my thinking

These 4 players will go 1-4

Seems michkov is positioning himself to not go to the number 2-4 spot from what I am reading

Bedard
Fantilli
Smith (smith will go to one of the 2 American teams )
Carlson

If Montreal gets an interview with michkov then we pick him with our 5th

If we do not get an interview then we will pick Zach benson (unless for some miracle carlson and smith still available at 5)

Forget Leonard , he had one good tournament on a line with smith

Benson has been more consistent. And is the better player

My 2 cents
Leonard had a great year not just one good tournament… and improved as the year went on. Don’t really know where did you get that Benson was more consistent.

Most or your examples align with what I posted. Terrific talent, needs work defensively, not physical...has great upside. Having said that, what's with the non-credible sources? Logan Horn from the Hockey Writers. Who? Dobber. That's a hockey pool site.

Smith's a tremendous talent. He could go #3 overall. However your post implying that he's a physical beast in the dirty areas just isn't reality.

MVP awards in 2 tournaments in USA U18 play has absolutely nothing to do with cutting it in NHL playoffs. Johathan Drouin was CHL Player of the Year in his draft year for chrissakes.
Johnathan Drouin has a muffin for a shot. Unfortunately, it wasn’t picked up by the Lightnings until his D+1. Smith has a laser.

I'll add that Drouin had two consecutive monster playoffs including one where the Mooseheads won the memorial cup.

LOL...You really think those two will be in Montreal in 3 years? Hoffman will be lucky to be still playing in this league by then.
Such a good argument isnt it.

You really think Michkov wants to play in Edmonton with Warren Foegele and Mattias Janmark-Nylen?

Like, why ignoring the best players ? 🤣

Top 5 pick in a "generational" draft demands you pick the most skilled player, period, end of conversation. Size makes no difference to me in this scenario as long as the skill level is so significantly higher than the next guy. You can play him on a thick line to create space. Some of the best players in the league are under 6'. Skill is rare, size can easily be acquired and for cheap.

I'm hoping we pick a Leo if they don't want Michkov and Smith is off the table. From everything we've seen and heard about the kid he fits the image of the kind of player Hughes talked about when he described the type of team he hopes to build. It won't be a reach at all IMO.

Apparently, Habs are on Michkov's list of teams he will be open to interview.

He's got a lot more stick skills and creativity than people give him credit for.
I think the reports I read gloss over this aspect of his game. I would get my puck-handling experts break down all the tapes and give me a thorough explanation of what’s happening there.

Teams talking to MItchy this week

Still not sure if Michkov wants to meet the Habs management team...if he doesn't want to play in Montréal...the Habs could still draft him and then trade him....Hugo will need to make sure that the Washington Capitals overpay to have the rights to baby Michkov.

You can look deep into all day long but there is no way to manage the risk of disappointment out. We are talking about evaluating ages 15-17/18 and trying to project that forward into 18-21. There is no scout in this entire world that would know for sure. You can't predict hunger and obsession to improve and a lot of growth of teenagers happens from 18-21.

What does BPA mean to us? If we really believe in it, take whoever is left from that top 5. If Michkov is there, draft him. He's not going to say no to Montreal. Come on man... we are not Winnipeg.

Michlov can play with Hoffman and Dvorak. How is that for an incentive?
I doubt either of those guys is on the team when he comes over. Realistically, he'd be playing with Dach or PLD on a very good young team that will begin to compete in about 3 years when he comes over and should be geared for 5+ years of being competative, if all goes to plan. Playing with a top 6 the way they're currently looking at is pretty solid and can easily get better in the next two drafts.

Caufield Suzuki Dach
Slaf PLD Michkov

Where did you see this?

Trying to find the link. It was on the Habs fanatics website who posted the Bob M story but added a statement that "according to sources, Michkov will be open to meet with the Habs".

Take it with a grain of salt. It was not Bob himself reporting it from what I can tell.

However, I do think we have negative minds in our fan herd. Why would Michkov block the Montreal Canadians? For the weather? Scared of our pressure market?.

I'll be upset if we pass on Michkov.

My exact top 6 as well!

3rd line could be Roy / Beck / Anderson... down the road. We could sign Monahan for 1 or 2 years to give Beck time to develop.

I like building my team with a strong top 9 and top 4D.

Teams need to thoroughly review Leonard’s stick abilities. Pass making, receiving and handling the puck. Draft him if you feel OK with what you see.
Think they need to do this inquiry with ALL draft eligible players they are interested in
