Everyone has to take another shot in the "if we don't take Michkov..." drinking game!

I have a feeling I'm going to be hammered on a Monday morning.
I'll be delight reading posts here monday morning, whatever will be the choice. I expect some folks here will cry very hard and some won't be able to post because their computer will be crashed or some violent act happen. This board will need an hot line for psychological support and I'm half jocking about it, lol.

30 years of waiting for a Cup does that to people....Idea is this...we just want those pros working full time running a team to show that they are actually better than fans doing this in their spare time....

They want Reinbacher? So be it. But he better be a top 2. They want Michkov? So be it. But he better come. They want Benson? So be it. But they better build a team to surround our smaller players. They want Smith? So be it. But they better make sure his development involves having him play a more complete game. Etc.

Do whatever. But make. it. happen.

It is a very frustrating situation for fans. We have no control and because we followed this very closely we have preferences and expectations.

I'm 100% like what you think. They are the pros, they have the network, the people who can dig and search. They'll make their choice and be it. I trust them better than I trust my limited point of view.

Some still think there is a chance MTL draft Michkov ??

I mean they are more chance that they trade the pick for an establish player that they pick Michkov

Yes, as others think Hughes would tip his hand before the draft. I wonder who's more rational? Those who jump on the rumors and believe everything or those who hold off on the rumors because they know all GMs are playing poker games right now?

Keep believing what you will, but you ain't closer to knowing the truth.

Btw, Elliott Friedman is well respected, as well as being well connected.

Yeah, that's all fine and dandy, but the problem here is your reading comprehension and the fact you didn't notice a few pages back, when what Friedman actually said verbatim was shown and those ridiculous speculations were shot down.

English media...vague, speculative and unclear...sh-tty!!

This is funny. I would suggest the complete opposite is far more likely. If we do take him and he busts has attitude or doesn't even come over the fan base will be furious. This tank job and draft is supposed to put our rebuild into high gear. With all the talent still available we can't mess this up. The majority of people here have already come to terms with we may not pick him. If we don't there are reasons. "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"
Matvei Michkov may just be that. "two in the bush" In three years from now fans will be more focused on what we do have and not what we don't have.
There will always be that group who will whine and bring it up but realistically the general population will treat it like a player who got traded. Out of sight out of mind. I take it you will be part of the former. :sarcasm:

How much success do you really think you'll have by laughing at a post and then replying with this is funny and going on with your side angle/opinion expecting me to respect it? I've learned. I don't agree and not engaging. Start the conversation better next time and we can talk like adults. You're better than that

I said what I said and stand by it. It's not really funny. You just have your own opinion. I'd give you more context but waste of time. I guess you are willing to bet guys from 6-10 will be better than Michkov?

Bob McKenzie confirms multiple clubs have scheduled interviews with Michkov in Nashville next week.

Here's hoping he makes a good impression on management. It seems like the interviews were the deciding factor last year. They very well could be again this year.

This is pure specualtion on my behalf, but I'd imagine Montreal would be one of Michkov's top preferrences to play in. Given Bobrov is the co-head scout and his connections with SKA, Montreal offers a little bit of home and some support in management for him. At least that's what I'd think if I was him. Washington is another team I'd think he'd love to play for though I'm not sure Ovi will be around long, if at all when he eventually comes to NA.

They must have forgot who our GM was

I know he stutters but he actually seems very confident and intelligent in his interviews despite his impediment. I find him pretty charismatic. I bet he interviewed very well.
Agreed...only stupid and insensitive person not draft a talented centre like Carlsson.

Ovechkin is on record saying he would have liked to play for Montreal one day but not in the cards at this stage. Would Michkov think the same? Not sure but if he is as confident and talented as he thinks he is, he would welcome the pressure market and excel in it.

Markov's beef with the Habs would be with Bergevin, not the Habs.

Sergachev would not like us for trading him. We are all on his side on that one.

Kovalev liked it in Montreal and performed.

Kovalchuk liked it in Montreal and performed (later in his career).

I like to believe the Habs have a good reputation in Russian with our history and mad hockey market. I think Michkov would play for us and remember, he would be ready to come over when most of our youth today are either in their prime or just touching it.

Michkov is a good fit for the Habs. Dubois sign/trade and drafting Michkov would be good adds to this core.

Ovechkin said if he ever played anywhere besides WSH it would be MTL. Malkin said MTL or NYR. Honestly, since Ovechkin is retiring in the next few years, if Michkov asked his advice on where he should play I wouldn't be surprised if Ovi said to give MTL a chance.

Although Michkov looked pretty happy at the beach so maybe he wants to go to San Jose

What I did read was one page in length...I didn't have the option of going back and reading further vague and misguided comments by Elliott Friedman...poor journalism...pure speculation.

Is that when you pick a donkey instead of a horse?

Jack...I suppose Kent Hughes will draft Matvei Michkov says something like..."I would be thrilled to play for Habs, will do everything in the meantime to improve as a hockey player and will do everything in his power to transition to the Montreal organization in three years when his contract in KHL will be over".
This type of response would offer Kent Hughes greater clarity about Michkov's intentions going forward.

While he is playing hockey, no time for the beach. But yeah, who doesn't like warm weather when living in harsh winters most of your life.

While my pick is Michkov...it's one thing to not choose him. AT a certain point....you could soften the blow with 2 things...he has to still improve his overall game and he has to come. People will be able to survive not picking him by thinking of those 2 things. At least....till he actually comes...

But it's another to go at it and NOT pick Smith, Leonard and Benson who are ON A FAN POINT OF VIEW showed more things than a Reinbacher for example. It's a FAN hockey board. With FANS point of views. It will always be more on surface than in depth. As much as we like to think that we are more than ''he has ugly hair, hence he sucks''. And we are. And yes, there are TONS of picks that happened that we were or would have been mad about....Price...Tkachuk, pretty sure a Seider pick would have been destroyed at draft day etc.

But at one point do people start having the PROS more accountable than the FANS on this board? I will never understand the ''not their fault if they pick this player, FANS ON THIS BOARD loved it....lol.

Who cares. Who would hold more accountable? A Surgeon who operates on you and f*** it up? Or the patient who was yelling what to do to the surgeon though a glass?

Maybe michkov pulls a jagr and tells each team he isn't coming over soon and is signing for an extra contract then tells the capitals he will come over right away. If jagr did it so can he but it only takes one in the top 7 to draft him and call his bluff.
