Intriguing, unpredictable draft.

At this point most of us said our piece.

Let the dominoes fall where they may.

Interesting to see who mise o jeu thinks we have the best odds of drafting.

Not that they know what they're talking about, since at the beginning of June they had Will Smith the favorite, and now he's 4th most likely.

At best odds they have Michkov and Reinbacher tied.
Their most likely list:
1. Michkov or Reinbacher, tie
3. Leonard
4. Smith
5. Dvorsky
6. Benson
7. Carlsson

Talk about Smith being SJ pick and touring their facility making it more clear he won't get to 5.

Why Carlsson so low, is it because he'll highly unlikely be available?

Aren't they adjusting the odds based on the bets to protect their margin?

Elliott Friedman is reporting that the teams drafting above the Washington Capitals ...picks 1--7...are unable to speak to Matvei Michkov. Supposedly, he is deliberately shunning these teams (which includes the Habs) in order to be drafted by the Capitals.
Jarogmir Jaeger did the same thing at the time in order to play with Mario Lemieux and the Penguins.
Friedman has never stated this - latest 32-podcasts, he says teams are having a difficult time setting up interviews and have so the entire KHL season. He continues, word in NHL circles, MM might be trying to choose his destination - never gets into specifics about location.

It was Jeff Marek who speculated he believes (as he’s done from the get go) MM ends up w Caps because he’ll be passed over in the first 7-picks

You're a smart guy, don't give these clowns a penny, they are no more qualified than a significant portion of HF posters. I am actually considering starting my own, so make sure to give me some of your hard earned money as well.
There are some good ones and there are some bad ones. I know which ones not to subscribe to. Let me know when your guide's available. :)

If we stay at 5 and Michkov is the one left, and we don't take him... Gorton/Hughes are going to derail their positive movement with our youth rebuild because "not taking Michkov" will haunt them for years. A distraction that lasts for 5+ years.

Yeah, Michkov could not come or disappoint but who's really going to bet a lot of money he won't sign in the NHL after his KHL deal and he's a disappointing prospect? Who's betting big money on that? I wouldn't

As far as Michkov telling teams who he will have an interview with.... Has there been a report saying he told the Habs he wouldn't? Didn't notice any

« There’s no actual source to say he’s being selective about where he wants to go. »
True...but why would he say in advance of the draft where exactly he wants to go....
The year Jagr was drafted, he didn't say where he wanted to be drafted....but we learned afterwards that the Pittsburgh Penguins were the only team he wanted to play with because of Mario Lemieux.

I really like Zach Benson. Would love to see him in the CH, though I guess Ryan Leonard is more likely assuming Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson are off the board.

Yea...that true...but a month ago...the talk was that the San Jose Sharks were interested in selecting Michkov...
Things change, when the GM Mike Greer was unable to reach Michkov...Michkov was in avoidance mode regarding some teams.

Carlsson would have been perfect scenario for us. Exactly what we need. Fk wish we tanked a little bit harder. I actually would go hard for the 3rd pick but he's perfect for CLB as well. Hopefully he had a bad interview or something.
Hopefully...Carlsson's stuttering bothers Columbus and SanJose enough that they avoid picking him...but I highly doubt that scenario takes place.

This is funny. I would suggest the complete opposite is far more likely. If we do take him and he busts has attitude or doesn't even come over the fan base will be furious. This tank job and draft is supposed to put our rebuild into high gear. With all the talent still available we can't mess this up. The majority of people here have already come to terms with we may not pick him. If we don't there are reasons. "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"
Matvei Michkov may just be that. "two in the bush" In three years from now fans will be more focused on what we do have and not what we don't have.
There will always be that group who will whine and bring it up but realistically the general population will treat it like a player who got traded. Out of sight out of mind. I take it you will be part of the former. :sarcasm:
