That's a massive red flag even if the habs are on that list...

I wouldn't at all be surprised if Hughes passes on him based on this fact alone if true.

Even if all 32 teams want to meet him, which I doubt is the case, I'm sure it's realistically closer to 20...he can't afford 8 hours (15 min x 32) split over a few days?

This is a draft, not free agency lol. Every team has a right to draft him so a prospect saying "I only want to talk to the teams I want to play for" isn't exactly a good look. Even for teams that he wants to play for that want to draft him.

Why would the Habs not be on his list? Montrealers have raved and cheered for three great Russians in the past. If there's one place in the east where the Habs are still highly recognized, it's Russia. Mtl's also one of the premiere markets in the league. Europeen-styled city.

I'd be surprised if we aren't.

I didn't say we aren't, I think the habs are on pretty much every past, current and future Russians list and likely ahead of the Caps as well on almost all of them.

I assume he would want to meet with Montreal, because there’s that long history with the games vs the Red Army in the 70s. But if I’m a team that’s not on his list, say for example Philadelphia (just speculating) and he’s the BPA on their list @7, I would still draft him. Either you manage to convince him to play for the Flyers (see Lemieux/Pens) or you flip him for top value (Lindros/Nordiques).

And don't get me wrong I have 0 clue if he has attitude problems as you have no clue if he is a good kid....which is part of the reason we shouldn't be all-in on a kid we don't know much about.

Having said that, that noise has been around for many months now, it might be smoke screen, it might ba a red flag and it could be a nothing burger, but that's one thing HuGo will need to investigate as some reports out there saying that HuGo are really high on kids with good attitude without character issue.

Lol we’re back to “Wright is too smart for junior hockey, it’s not lack of compete that you see with your eyes, it’s just that he isn’t challenged enough (or his teammates suck or his coach suck etc). As if Michkov’s coach would say “yeah he’s a douche”.

Worth repeating, no other org is as well positioned to get the inside scoop on Michkov as Habs w Bobrov’s old man being advisor to SKA - that should put Habs in pole position

Wright was floating in the OHL his draft year and would avoid traffic completely. He mailed in his back checking in February. Michkov has lapses in his defensive game. He is a bit slow to react when his team loses the puck. That is a problem that needs to be fixed. But once he gets going, he’ll backcheck seriously. He’ll take his guy and his stick. No half assed effort like Wright who was playing the Center position and his role was much more crucial defensively.

Validation would be great, because without it we're all just spinning our own wheels here.

The naysayers in regards to Michkov are certainly using it to prop up their reasoning not to draft him.

While the pro Michkov camp, is saying we're not buying it.

I would love to know the truth.
