“Ole, ole, ole! I just spent $500 at the Bell Centre, Habs win, got my money’s worth!”Chickens coming home to roost.
I still remember all of those sad souls who were happy after we kept racking up point after point....
Where are they now????????????
Trade Mailloux to not have to make a choice about drafting Michkov? How does that make sense?
Mailloux controversy ship has sailed. Chantal is now handling everything. Michkov, we sure don't know how political the file could be for all canadian teams.Or just trying to get rid of Mailloux so they don't have two controvrsies on their hands if Michkov lands on their spot and they pick him.
How is it that a former 1st round RHD pick who as size, skating, a big shot and also plays with some snarl not a potential fit with any NHL team?A scout quoted in the Bernier piece, FWIW, said that it could involve one or two D prospects and two draft picks. The scout said that it could even involve Mailloux as he didn’t see a fit for him with the Habs.
On what basis would Mailloux not be a fit? The scout did not say. Did he know something?
If the above scenario would materialize, it would be Mailloux, another D, the 5th OA and another pick in exchange for the 4th OA.
Get rid of two hot potatoes for the squeaky clean Will Smith (although we’ll be having a field day with him and his good buddy Chris Rock anyhow).Or just trying to get rid of Mailloux so they don't have two controvrsies on their hands if Michkov lands on their spot and they pick him.
Why would a person working inside the habs draft department would leak info freely to d'Amico? It makes no sense.I don’t doubt he got the information from a hockey guy. But it’s only one guy. And who says it’s not just his opinion. Valid info but still not super solid.
It’s not his hockey attributes but that off ice thing we can’t discuss. How is it that a former 1st round RHD pick who as size, skating, a big shot and also plays with some snarl not a potential fit with any NHL team?
Sometimes I really wonder about some of these "anonymous" scout sources and what they have say since it makes zero sense far too often.
Just like last year when he was told they we're leaning too WrightWhy would a person working inside the habs draft department would leak info freely to d'Amico? It makes no sense.
When the reputable insiders (Friedman, Dreger, Johnston, Lebrun, Seravalli, Weekes mainly) throw something its either
A) a breaking news and they are the first report.
Example : Hearing X players to Y teams.
B) an agent or a front office personel may leak to someone who has a big reputation to make things going.
Example today : Dreger said many teams are calling for Olofsson in Buffalo. Maybe someone in Buffalo leaked it to put a prospective team under pressure?
Concerning the D'Amico, Basu, etc. There are absolutely no reason for someone working in the inside, under confidentiality, to give them free info. Bar none. D'amico is promoting his website with made up rumors. They don't have the reputation nor the credibility nor the links throughout the link to be involved in the NHL inner circle.
I agree for D’amico but not BasuConcerning the D'Amico, Basu, etc. There are absolutely no reason for someone working in the inside, under confidentiality, to give them free info. Bar none. He is spewing bullshit.
Well in that case I hope the next time Geoff walks his Golden Retriever the dog takes a **** and Geoff accidently walks in it.The thinking behind Mailloux as a trading chip may be coming from Geoff wanting to distance himself further from the controversy his selection generated and not having to continue doing damage control once he dons a Habs jersey. They may be trying to do that now that Mailloux’s value has risen, as per another site, HabsolumentFan.
This added to not wanting to deal with the Michkov hot potato and the Habs apparently hard set on Smith, could explain how Hughes has gone about his quest for a deal, in an aggressive manner.
If that's the case then maybe they shouldn't have signed him to his ELC, if the off ice thing was still an issue, and just cut ties with him before and it would've been the end of the LM story for the Habs. It’s not his hockey attributes but that off ice thing we can’t discuss.
I feel Basu doesn’t have a wide knowledge though.I agree for D’amico but not Basu
He was at the combine and he often have good info about the Habs
OMG. This is the lying season for GMs. Are you really taking Briere at face value? But the HF Habs experts told us that if teams are passing on Michkov, there is a reason and we should do the same... Apparently, Brière disagree.
“Ole, ole, ole! I just spent $500 at the Bell Centre, Habs win, got my money’s worth!”

so true, so much hype that never ever delivers.Throw a dart at the board after Bedard. There will be lots of duds as usual.
It’s not his hockey attributes but that off ice thing we can’t discuss.
Especially when RD is our biggest organizational weakness and our PP has been terrible for almost a decade. How is it that a former 1st round RHD pick who as size, skating, a big shot and also plays with some snarl not a potential fit with any NHL team?
Sometimes I really wonder about some of these "anonymous" scout sources and what they have say since it makes zero sense far too often.
The thing is will should be picking Smith because should pick Michkov. So yeah Gms are dumb to pass over himI have Michkov at 3 but I'm not blind to the fact teams have an issue with his style of play, they have an issue with his size, they have an issue with his compete, they have an issue with his defensive play/awareness, they're concerned about the mysterious death of his father, they have concern they haven't seen him live in 2 years, there is concern about not being able to develop him for 3 years, there's concern about his contract being extended and there's concern about the geopolitical situation getting worse over the next 3+ years.
Its also funny to me that the Michkov or I'm done with this front office folks won't stick their neck out for how stupid San Jose is for taking Will Smith over Michkov.
It's not black and white, so if they take Michkov ill be surprised but happy and then hold my breath for 3 years.
But if they pass and other teams pass too, can the Michkov disciples at least accept that there may be more to the player and the situation then what they seem to present as their argument?
And that’s why this is not a pure talent pick. And for some whom these stuff don’t matter , they need to business in those areas lol … they will Learn fastI’m waiting to find out if those running St-Petersburg SKA are mobsters, extortionists and henchmen.
And if they are, how is Bobrov’s father still working for them?
Also, are they the reason that ponds in Russia have become a drowning hazard?
If the answer to any of the above is yes, the it will take more than 5 years for Michkov to get here.![]()

I'd rather trade down to 8 and get an asset to pick one of Reinbacher. Leonard or Benson than trade up.
Still an asset. If that's the case then maybe they shouldn't have signed him to his ELC, if the off ice thing was still an issue, and just cut ties with him before and it would've been the end of the LM story for the Habs.
