Your gonna be the 1st to complain if Michkov flop…
I’ll complain for one reason alone, if management thinks they are smarter than their scouts who do this full time many months a year imposing on a whim their own personal preference.

Beck and Harris are decent but not great young players who we tend to overate

The team will not suffer without them.

While I like Dach, he is not a center man and he’s had some significant injuries.

He had a good year, but let’s not pretend he scored a hundred points. He’s not untouchable

The fifth and the late 31st are what they are - later picks that do not have chances at Fantilli.

Beck was literally just drafted...

It's like saying Slaf is a bust.

We don't know what Beck will become but he looks like a great pick so far.

You're giving up too much value, banking on the fact that Fantilli will become that much better than the 5th OA, AND the 31st OA, AND the 3 other players you're adding.

Horrible value and very dangerous trade. Fantilli is not a sure thing either.

As far as I know, Michkov may be the pick. It is entirely possible that the hope of HuGo is to blur the situation as much as possible for other teams. There is no reason for any team to make their preference known, and when they do, there may still be a heavy dose of deception in this manoeuver.

Gotta wait until the draft. In the meantime, it would be nice if folks on this forum could stay level-headed and more polite to people of different opinions.

you guys remember 5 years ago when a bunch of us were saying 'trade price for picks in the upcoming drafts' and all the woke sensitive smurfs here were screaming 'you never trade a franchise D at any point!

Good times, what could have been.

I wanted to trade him summer 2015, 8 years ago.

That would be great news. I was wondering what Michkov would look like in a Habs jersey so I just had to see. Looks pretty damn nice to moi.. :)

And here we thought he'd be gagged and strapped to a chair in some damp forsaken basement inside the Kremlin.
The Russian government are engaged in a war, engaged in fighting sanctions and in making sure ordinary Russian have bread on their table so they don’t rebel. The last thing on their mind is hockey players.

Yes, it all depends on how bad you (meaning our scouting staff) want Michkov and what the price is.
They don’t want him. You underestimate how bad these gms/scouts such. I think it’s pretty much a guarantee Michkov will be available at 5 if we want him. Can’t see him going before 8.

How is that a good news? I'm afraid all those talk about Michkov are for nothing. San Jose will end up drafting him. This have been a disapointing season. I'm fully expecting him to be drafted #4. Just one rank above us (kinda like Pastrnak in 2014)...
If there’s no trade, I’m fully convinced now that San Jose will go Smith if he’s still available.
