I don't really get the logic of that swap between #4 and #5. There isn't enough difference between the quality of players between those to justify spending to get #4 from #5.

And during the Combine, the media were talking about there being a lots of teams contacting the Habs to get the #5 pick to take the guy Arizona wants.

Well, we do have this year 31st, our next year 1st pick and Calgary 1st, also 2 x 2nds, also Anderson, Edmundson, Dvorak have positive value imo and Harris is the one prospect we can sacrifice

Who cares though? The habs got this pick to flip it, they never wanted to draft with it. If they couldn’t get the pick to finally get Dach, Romanov would still be here. Not Nazar or whoever.

It’s been easy to see for many months that the habs want Smith.

I don't know him very well, I wasn't too impressed with him but also wasn't paying much attention as the last thing I want is to see us pick another blueliner with the 1st pick. So I get it that you pick him at 5 if you think you have the next Seider or Jiricek but you better be damn sure he's that good and not just a solid 4th or 5th type D (since we are talking 5th OA)

It does seem odd though that his name keeps popping up with the Habs, not saying that Reinbacher doesn't end up a better NHLer then Michkov, but after the season your fans just went through that would be a tough sell indeed. But as I say I don't care who they pick as long as they get it right.

Hoping to get Arizona to cough something up to get 5? They apparently have a huge interest in Reinbacher.

Smith was the guy pulling Leonard. I’d give Leonard + FLA 1st for Smith. The guy at #32 doesn’t have that good of odds to be an impact player.

That said, I would take Michkov at #5 and not try to trade up.

I didn't want Slaf or Wright last draft either so 2 years in a row I'm expecting to be very disappointed and with such high picks. But in the end I don't give a shit, pick whoever the f*** they want just for the love of god please make the right picks. I won't say anything on Slaf because I just don't know the player yet at all and I dismissed the Kulich talk early on since Mesar has a lot of skill but man that looking really, really bad so you just hope Boborv and Gorton and Lapointe and everyone has their shit together and on top of things cause last years draft class is certainly a bit concerning considering they had the 1st OA and 3 top 50 picks. Hutson and Engstrom though you got to love how great things are looking for them and to be fair it works both ways when it's this early after a draft, you can't get carried away with the good or the bad just yet, the main thing is can they show progress next year and the next, and the next, etc..

It's unreal how badly we get f***ed drafting wise. #3 pick in 2018 which was seen as a clear drop from the top 2 and the Canes moved all the way up despite being like 11th last. #1 last year where there was no real #1 talent. #5 this year where it's a clear top 4 since we aren't taking Michkov. Just to make matters worse, M.Tkachuk decides to become the 2nd best player in the league this year and Montour a Norris candidate making us go from another top 10 pick, to 14, to 17 then Boborvosky suddenly decides to try for 10 games after 4 seasons and we end up with the 31st. Watch the Flyers get a top 5 pick from the Panthers because of all the injuries they have and Montour/Tkachuk regressing. Shit drafting luck and shit drafting.

After his tepid performance at the U18s, where he was a step behind the elite players, Cristall should not be consideration at either 31 or 37 for Montreal. There are a lot of intriguing players who will be available between 20 and 40 OA. Cristall is not one of them.

At 31 he’s an easy selection to make. You’re not going to find more talented players at that spot.
