Really hoping we get a chance at and take Michkov......We are going to be a bottom 10 team again and we can add a another first pick with Edmonson.....then sign PLD as a UFA.....and we just might be off to the races in 3 years.......I can wait!!!!

This would be great, but we need a lot to go right for it to happen.

1. We need Michkov to fall to us.
2. We need Eddie to bounce back and have a good first 2/3's of a season this upcoming year. I doubt he even gets a 2nd right now.
3. We need PLD to be willing to come here at an AAV less than Suzuki. I think PLD would want to do this actually. But I have no insider info.

Reinbacher would just be so underwhelming dude. I get that it's "a need" but this is the first draft in FOREVER that oozes offensive talent and we would pick the D.

It'd be like the Price situation all over again. Don't get me wrong, I love Price/that pick semi-worked out but can we get some more electric offense in this lineup, please?
You draft the BPA not for need

Carey Price is the best pick this team made in this century, If we can have an other pick like Price this year I would extremely happy

In regards to Michkov, aside from Habs' management themselves, no one knows their exact thoughts on him.

I wouldn't put much stock over the next few weeks on reports on the Habs' thoughts on him. If they really like him, they wouldn't let it be known due to the risk of him going before he's available at 5. If they want nothing to do with him, they aren't going to reveal their thoughts publicly and let teams behind them know he can potentially be available.

This organization is very tight lipped, even last year we had no idea they'd take Slaf until the pick was announced. Hughes has spent his life negotiating, so he's not the type of guy who will tip his hand with such a meaningful pick.

I have Reinbacher at 4, right behind Bedard and the big centerman. (And Michkov but thats another case.)

I would rather we get this potential 1D stud then we get a winger whose ultimate potential is more speculative. (So any players after Bedard, Michkov, Fantilli and Carlsson)

1. Matvei Michkov, RW, SKA-Russia

All right I know I have to explain this one as you all sharpen your pitchforks. Michkov may be the best draft eligible I’ve ever seen from inside the offensive blue line, or at least in the mix. His skill plus offensive sense combination is incredible. He sees the game at a different level and is a scoring-chance machine once he gets the puck inside the opponent’s zone. The lack of speed and size are notable hindrances in his pro projection — both are worse than Connor Bedard’s and he doesn’t have Bedard’s motor — but he’s a unique player and has the potential to put up massive amounts of offense as a pro if he hits, which isn’t a sure thing.

2. Connor Bedard, C, Regina-WHL

Narrowly trailing Michkov is the presumptive No. 1 pick in Bedard. Bedard is projected to become a top-scoring NHL forward. He has game-breaking skill and goal-scoring ability, and could potentially be a regular for 35 to 40 goals in the NHL. There is true superstar upside in his game with fewer risk variables in his skill set than someone like Michkov, due to his superior speed and compete.

no its not after Bedard nobody knows what will happen even ANA could take Carlsson over Fantilli all we know today is that Bedard will go 1st and that Columbus will take a center

Drafts are always unpredictable Reinbacher can even go top 5

Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli, Michkov, Smith...order it how you want basically.

Reinbacher at 5th would need a team dumb enough to reach...I feel like our management is smarter than that since we took the consensus #1 last year. I can't see any of the top 4 reaching. I know you used Reinbacher as an example but I'd say the same about any prospect.

Only one I can see a bit of an argument for is Benson from everything I've read.

If Marchessault wins the Conn Smyth, or even is in the conversation with Jack Eichel, I bet that influences management around the league, including ours.

It probably means Michkov is off the board before 5, but may increase the amount Benson is back in the discussion. Though with all the recent signings, I wonder if HuGo have already formed their opinions on the players for the 2023 draft class.

I hate this crowd effect where GMs around the league act like dumb followers every year

This year winner have a big defense, we now all want big defensemen, this year winner is fast? we now all need speed. :help:

It will be interesting to see what we do with Eddy. He has no trade value now. But if we hang onto him he could get his trade value back up by next TDL. But if we hang onto him, some else has to be off the roster or sit in the press box long term. We can't go into the season with:

Guhle Savard
Matheson Barron
Edmundson Xhekaj
Harris, Kovacevic
