You know who also had a great underage tournament?
Ya boi SHANE WRIGHT.
Need to watch what Michy has done this year but getting a good view of him is like watching the scrambled satellite channels you didn't pay for.
Nobody is gonna go trading the golden child, boy wonder, tiny but mighty, fan favorite future 50 goal man for a mysterious pipe dream that may never come.
#FactsOnFacts
he had record breaking numbers in the second best league in the world, without much of a suporting cast.

i'd say he did pretty well this year.

Still bonkers to trade for someone like that with the whole situation happening, not knowing their future, not having control of development, we don't even know if they'd take him 5th overall never mind trade him for your fan favorite cash cow blossoming star -
nah that's crazy talk

Those scouts in the athletic’s article i shared yesterday doesn’t seem to like Reinbacher all that much. Nowhere near 5th overall, at least.

There's a new reality in the NHL that's still taking effect, but the fact that there's 32 teams means at least one team will go on a 31 year cup drought after this playoffs.

Playing exciting and competitive hockey is where the new entertainment will come from. Montreal needs exciting players and Michkov is our best chance at it.

How many teams have won in the last 30 years? 12-13 ish?

People accepted the rebuild because a lot of things can be exiting. The draft, seeing a kid with super talent develop, etc.

Michkov, if he is available at 5, needs to be taken by Hughes. The more I read and look at Reinbacher, the more I feel sick about Michkov landing in Arz, Phi or Wsh.

Michkov would also probably feel sick about landing in Arizona, too.

Examples of exiting things (that we’d all welcome): the departures of the Hoff, Dvorak, Edmundson. The conversion of redundant assets to fill needs.

And then the exciting things: I too want that first line star offensive producer — that guy will keep me entertained even on nights when the team doesn’t do so well. This is what we’re missing, we’ve been starved for one for over 30 years. Get it done, Kent!

Michkov won't come over until season 2027-28.... What do you do in the meantime WITHOUT Caufield ? Ideally, you want to add talent to the Habs, not just replace one good piece by another.

We are tanking until 2028, Caufield is way too old.

We're in no position to know what management's read on his talent level and chances of not coming over are.

To think otherwise is what is crazy.

That isn't the argument - it is would you trade Caufield today for everything we DO know about Michkov (which isn't enough)

I wasn't involved in a Caufield debate so my posts have nothing to do with Caufield.

No I wouldn't trade Caufield. I would move up with the 5th pick for either Michkov or Carlsson, but not using Caufield.

I get it. But 38 in 58 still I sent 40. But if you didn’t hand pick part of the quote to take it out of the context you would understand that he still isn’t a guy you can call a number 1 stud ppg+ which was the point.

Did you read the initial post ?
I did I was being sarcastic , I am 100 pct in agreement with you :)
I probably been one of the most positive about dach and how he will be a stat people wonder how the hell was he traded . And that from day one of the trade

And then we can trade Michkov. Keep the tank alive forever. Personally I love watching my favorite team be shitty year after year.

Michkov is the next Guy Lafleur

Some here smoke some strong stuff. Let’s trade our actual core to rebuild another younger core! HFBoards never disappoints!

Nonesense. The point is let's trade our core player―who is a good but not great player―for an actual great player. The next Guy Lafleur = Michkov.

Let's trade Yvan Cournoyer for Guy Lafleur. That's what it is.

By "great player", I mean Art Ross level superstar.

HuGo have the easiest draft pick in the entire draft other than Chicago. There’s a group of clear cut top 5 picks, and then it breaks down into chaos after that with any number of players who can easily go at 6 and on.

But at the 5 spot, all Habs need to do is not over think the pick and just take whoever is left and there’s zero pressure on them. Smith, Michkov, Carlsson whatever. Which ever player falls to 5, you take a laugh all the way. Simple, so long as they don’t f*** it up!
