Say what you will, once Slaf and Dach develop their all-around game, which I understand is something Nicholas & co are working on, a Slafkovsky-Dach-Michkov line would be immense for our club.

Plus you conserve the proven Suzuki-Caufield combo.

Michkov would change this team. Like getting a smarter 2008 Kovalev.

You can add Dubois in the mix and our top 6 would be complete.

Slafkovsky - Dach - Michkov
Dubois - Suzuki - Caufield

Looks good to me.

I see Michkov as a better Caufield. He is a small player.

I still want him bad, for sure. But he is small.

Michkov is a better playmaker than Caufield too.

Having Dach and Slafkovsky in the Top 6 already, and probably Dubois, puts to bed any concern about size in our Top 6.

That was one of the points of picking Slaf in the uncertain 2022 draft.

The size concerns can now be ignored.

Yes, I would love Michkov in our top 6 - perhaps I'd only want Bedard more than him.

Now, I was just listening to Phillip Boucher on Marinaro's podcast. He does a lot of scouting of CHL players. He says Benson has the "it" factor and we don't really need Smith that much given we have Suzuki, Dach, and perhaps Dubois at C. Benson sounds like a Gallagher with elite vision and playmaking. His hockey sense and character are through the roof. And he's good defensively. Up until the U18's he was almost universally ahead of Smith at 5.

Does the size factor make Smith the better pick than Benson?

Haha, Dubois.

He will probably want out of Montreal by the time Michkov comes over, just like he wanted out of Columbus and Winnipeg before that.

I'm definitely taking Benson over Smith.

I don't like the things I've been reading about Smith. Sounds like he's all skills. I keep hearing that he can get lazy, can be soft and avoids contact. I really don't want another Pacioretty. Has to work on board battles. Been also hearing Leonard could even end up the better player in the NHL.

I just want someone who has A+ compete level, has another gear when it matters the most even if he just ends up a 60-70pt player. Benson seems like that type of player.

I liked Pacioretty. He was a shooter that needed to play with a playmaker. But he even produced when that playmaker was Desharnais.

All I remember about Patches is how much he frustrated me watching him. Not again.

Like you said, Benson is Gallagher or even a Lehkonen with more skills. Those are my type.

So why knock Subban with your ID, as he was very much a competitor, or is it a lament?

I don’t get the hate for Pac on the ice. He was less eager for contact after Chara intentionally injured him but I think I can understand that.

Agreed...Benson is a hockey savant...he ca score and set up guys....plus he's already defensively responsible....he has an incredible +68 (+ -).

Wouldn't be surprised if Benson drops.

This is inflated cause he played on the best team in the WHL. This is great, but we need to take this stats with grain of salt. You also have those guys like Colby Barlow where he is +14, while a lot of player on team is on the negative. Imo, this is also a really good +14 because the context

Those guys don’t have any sources….

Number of time they said something according to there source last year that was completely false. They where saying that the Habs had Shane Wright #1 and he was the guy they would take
