Caufield has nothing to do with this. Michkov is rated 2nd despite his size. The only question is WILL HE COME OVER and will he defect if he has to in order to stay in North America. There is a war on. If he drops to 5th 3 teams think he is too risky. Unless HuGo has intel they don't have they will pass too.
Yes indeed.

We know for a fact that he wants to play in the NHL and that he will be present at the draft.

I undestand the concern and they are legitimate. i may overrate Michkov but believe he has the potential to be a top 5-10 players in the NHL in his prime.

He is better than at least 50% of the 1st overall of the last decade.

It is so rare to have the chance to grab such a talent. Its a once in many decade opportunity.

Therefore, if he is there at 5, the chance to draft this kind of talent at 5 justify every risk possible.

Poorly rationalized posts are a dime a dozen.......Roy has a very good chance to be a top 6 forward in the NHL.

Lol you're the last person who should give lessons about poorly rationalized posts.

Like equating people who thought there was a chance Hutson would grow a bit, with antivaxxers, when 1- studies of big cohorts have shown that yound males can grow between 1 to 3 inches after the age of 18, the average being around 1 inch 2- Hutson actually grew from 5'8½ to 5'10 since then.

Michkov might yet influence some teams on the day of the draft, as several are likely to jockey for his time and may get reassurances to the thorny issues that are reportedly causing reticence.

It’ll be funny when Michkov sets up Ovi for the record breaker.
It’s quite possible. He’s not passing Caps and Wings for sure. Caps 1st Rounder last summer was playing in Russia and was vastly inferior to Michkov. Even Arizona drafted a Russian months after the invasion.

And constitutional growth delay runs in his family. He apparently had the bone age scans to confirm as well. Like, there wasn't 0 evidence here.

Michkov > Bedard

If we get Michkov at 5th, we won the true lottery.
Doubtful, Bedard is one of the youngest players in this draft and just had a phenomenal draft year, he found another gear at some point where he started to pile the 5 pts games on a poor team. He confirmed his phenomenal status at the WJC where he had a legendary showing. Michkov was physically ahead 2 yrs ago, but I highly doubt he is where Bedard now is. Everytime I watched Bedard in the 2nd half of the season he was unfair for the competition.

No, but please expand on that.
Smaller, Agile, Hyped. Can dominate his age group. But I am not sure I am seeing to much more growth in his OV game. He can shoot yes, but how much better at it can he really get? He sees the ice well in O zone but I see him putting himself in bad position against men quite a bit.. Mind you for a kid playing against men it's pretty good. Both have had a tendency to float until they have puck.

Bedard is currently better as he easily is the better skater

Unclear to me. He's faster but not sure he has better edgework/mobility than Michkov. Michkov is capable of going to the extremes of his moves to fool opponents (sell it) without losing his balance/optionality, I think he's really exceptional in that regard. Bedard too, ofc, just not sure who is better at it.

We'll see. Not denying Bedard had a great year, but Michkov had more serious obstacles to face this year, like playing pro, and most likely outside factors. I think Michkov is smarter than Bedard. So many quiet, subtle intelligent plays he makes. Reminds me of Gretzky in a way, with more of a goal scoring bent. Bedard is smart but not that smart.

I dont know, Bedard isnt only a phenomenal sniper, he can create alot with his playmaking as well and I was really impressed with his IQ particulary too.

I agree with you, Bedard isn't just a sniper, and neither is Michkov. They can do pretty much everything offensively. But IQ-wise, I was still more impressed with Michkov. I recall the vivid impression watching him, of witnessing a strange ghost playing on a different plane of existence. Had the same weird vibe when watching Gretzky.

To this day Gretzky is the only player who made plays I couldn't fully understand after multiple replays. And Michkov is giving me a little bit of that vibe here and there.

Hey, maybe I'm wrong. I would still pick Bedard at 1st because of the Russia factor, but easily Michkov at 2nd.
