Non CMNT thing... One week today the CPL starts, get out and support the league if you can! A great way to enjoy some Canadian football as we wait for the biggest ticket event next fall!
Mark Twain once said that conservatives know the price of everything, but don't understand the value of anything. That's Chris Selley.I would be interested to hear peoples thoughts on this article:
Chris Selley: $290 million to host five soccer games? Walk away, Canada
Canada's World Cup Fever could prove very costly if taxpayers let their guard downnationalpost.com
And now he red cards a random dude on the bench
UEFA is the only confederation that can have 2 teams in the same groupAre we hoping to pull one of our CONCACAF brethern in the draw tomorrow? Or are there rules to prevent that? I mean, having to face either the US or Mexico should give our boys some confidence.
Too bad about pot 4, but we were ranked near a hundred when all this began... hard to complain.
yes - we must do this now... because when will it ever happen again for us?Mark Twain once said that conservatives know the price of everything, but don't understand the value of anything. That's Chris Selley.
Look, I objected to us bidding on this, because FIFA. I was also reluctant about the multi-billion-dollar price tag of 2010.
But we're here now and we said we'd do the thing. Time for us to bend over and do the thing.
Assumed somthing like that was in play. Too bad, but also cool to avoid grouping teams from the same confederations. Thx!UEFA is the only confederation that can have 2 teams in the same group
Well, more importantly, Canada would look pretty bad if, five years before the event, and a couple of years after being given the right to co-host the event, we pulled out. International reputations matter.yes - we must do this now... because when will it ever happen again for us?
Yes. We were very lucky to only see this crap at the end of the cycle. He turned into a "tough guy" at the end of the match when Canada's fate was pretty much sealed.
You look at the stats at the end, and without watching the game, these cards make it look like the ref had good control over the match, but he was never in control when it mattered.
My takeaway from this was first of all, I'm grateful that we didn't see too much concacafing in the octaganol, and secondly, thank the lord that we don't have to worry about concacaf matches for a long time now.
Open against Belgium. Big test right off the bat.
Tough group but certainly not worst case scenario .
Can't wait!
