Reddit people are going off about the pitch being horrendous saying this game should never have been played here.

I'm not a soccer guy. Is it really that bad?

Yeah it’s pretty bad. If we ever want to see World Cup games here in 2026, Fifa is going to mandate a grass pitch.

If US can score one against Mexico and we hang on, we could vault into 1st place in the standings :naughty:

No, we need a draw in the US and a win here. The US was a point ahead of us. Then we need a win here and a Jamaica win or draw.

If we win tonight then we have 16 points. If US beats Mexico then Mexico and the US are both at 15 points, so we will be in 1st place for the meantime

Don’t run on to the field! That’s a sure way of getting fans banned from our home games.

Good result for Canada but bad result for Edmonton having people running out on the pitch like that in dying moments of the game. FIFA officials are attending. They won't like how that was allowed to occur. Needs to be more security out there.

Gonna say as well the Fans shouting Referees suck after the hand ball goal, c'mon, pay attention. Just looks silly to be complaining about that one. Only Maradona gets that call..;)

Yeah. Plus with how bad the field conditions were, this was not a good look. Hope the organizers improve on Tuesday.

Man, you think they could do a bit better job on removing the chalk markings on the field. You could see the Football markings almost as much as the Soccer lines. Another thing is around Center field the Turf is clearly badly worn. What we can't afford artificial turf replacement?

I hear though its going back to Natural Turf in order for Edmonton to have a crack at hosting 2026 games.

Hope people enjoyed the game. Would have been a lot of people that had not attended matches before. I think Canada did enough to make an impression. Certainly Buchanan. You rarely see a bicycle kick executed that well. Everything but score.

Canada should play much better against Mexico, probably have to.

Was disappointed at the pitch invaders.

I feel like Alphonso tried to do too much at times, good job by David taking advantage of the keeper slip up. Holy shit that Buchanan bicycle kick that would've been Puskas worthy

Happy with the result though and it was a fun time. See you all again on Tuesday

Couldn't get better weather for this time of year. Anybody complaining about field conditions should recognize that Canada purposely had the two games played here so that opponents would have more trouble with the conditions. In the case of Costa Rica though a bit odd as Canada blows them away in talent and if anything the fall field conditions and near freezing surface hurt them more. Its a harder surface at this time of year. No give to it. But it was Canadas call, and really in November field conditions here could be far far worse. I mean they could have played this game as a snow bowl game. Which really wouldn't suit Canada. Not this Canadian team which works better when field and conditions are ideal. As it is for skill clubs.

Yeah might have been smarter to switch the timing of the Edmonton and Toronto games TBH.

Fun to be at the game though. Mexico will be even colder so it could be pretty chaotic

I've been to several of these matches here. Always enjoyable. 51K against Brazil and a 1-1 tie was pretty memorable. Never forget it. But this here squad is making new memories. Good for them, and for Edmonton, and hopefully this propels Edmonton back to Soccer big leagues. We should be in MLS. A good argument can be made for it.

Anyway next up Mexico, and then hopefully Qatar WC, and then hopefully world cup matches right here in 2026.

Mexico probably packs more of a crowd. They bring some different atmosphere.
