Everyone saw this coming with Montreal. They just had a hot start. Did everyone really think they were going to score .5 short handed goals per game all year?

They're quickly falling back into the middle tier of the division being: MTL, WPG, CAL, EDM.

One of those 4 are going to be disappointed at the end of the year.

That’s a tough one for Ottawa tonight. They played awesome and all they got for their efforts was to be behind 4-0.
Helly kept us in the game during that 1st.
Good game.

The Sens against the Oilers are one of the worst teams I've ever seen.

Even on nights where they play well they aren't actually in the game.

Unless someone goes red hot on their roster they are going to be lucky to win 10 this year.

Yup, it’s Toronto, everyone else except the Sens, and then the Sens. The middle of the pack is extremely close though. The Canucks are struggling right now but I can see them bounce back quickly.

Not a single American team has let in more goals than the Oilers. STELLAR

While the Oilers have been a bit leaky this year (North division is certainly an offensive powerhouse division)....

American Teams allowing more goals than the Oilers this year:

Pens
Caps
Sharks
Preds
Kings

Also I wouldn't write off the oilers right now, sure they got a slow start, however with Smith back the D are playing more relaxed and comfortable. Its been 2 games, but its a night and day difference. Toronto may not be the clear cut division winner when all is said and done. The Oilers are putting it together.

I still have them in the playoffs.....have had them from the start.

LOL no. Not a single one of them has let in 52 goals. Maybe what you mean is goals per game, which is not what i said. (nor did you)
Yeah, the north is such a powerhouse division!! Tampa, Vegas, Colorado, St Louis, Dallas, Washington, Carolina, Boston etc are thanking their lucky stars that they avoided these "powerhouse" teams up north!

Paper tiger Habs coming down to earth. NOBODY SAW THIS COMING. o_O

I am nobody.

EDIT: for the record, I don't think Leafs have been as good as their record shows either. They've been playing like dogshit last 2 games, getting lucky on half-game efforts. If Keefe doesn't figure it out and drill it into their heads, we're going to get humbled too.

St. Louis just dropped three straight to Arizona.

The North division might not be the most defensive (thank goodness) but it's the funnest and has all the best drama. Plus Canadians are so crazy for hockey it's been a blast following hockey with other like-minded people. I know I'm not missing the Ducks or Coyotes but I bet those markets are missing increased interest and viewership when McDavid plays their teams.

Montreal would look a lot better with PLD.

Or Lafreniere. How amazing would it have been to see the city of Montréal go crazy for their first French Canadian superstar forward since the dynasty years?

The Habs are a franchise that always seems to have a franchise goalie and good D, but they've never had a generational talent at forward. Watch how quickly Montréal would embrace a fast, fun to watch team built around offense.

Goals per game is would be the only way to look at goals allowed, especially with so many US teams missing games due to Covid or you look foolish. Recognizing its the correct way and still doubling down like you have a point is next level though. Keep going though, its certainly entertaining.

Edmonton has also scored more goals than any American team (I cant wait for you to start screaming its because they've played more games) with a +3 goal differential and 51.40 GF%. Thats better than 16 American teams.

:P

Holy **** people are touchy, it's not a holy crusade on the north. The defense in that division is terrible. The overall level is easily the weakest of the 4 divisions. For example, Nashville is 7th in the central, Montreal is 2nd in the north. Now if you must bet your house on one of these teams to beat the other one in a 7 game series, i think most would lean Nashville. It's great that the interest is high and so on, didn't argue that.

OILERS SC FAVOURITE CONFIRMED!!!
Meanwhile in reality, only Toronto would be a top-10 team in the league if they all faced each other.

Nashville is complete garbage this year. They'd be 7th in the north
