The Americans deserve a lot of credit.

There wasn’t a lot of room out there.

Canadians deserve a lot of credit too. They were trying a lot and just kept getting stonewalled by team defense and Hellebuyck. Sure, Binnington let in a soft one to level the score, and Marner's 6 on 5 pass leading to the empty net goal was boneheaded, but Canada had a lot of pressure tonight and just couldn't convert.

Crosby is well past his prime. Of course, the best players can still bring it occasionally but it becomes less and less as the seasons add up.

Makar at 26 is the youngest of original lineup before Harley was added. Thats a major mistake.

Blaming the goalie tonight is like blaming the cow for your milk going bad. The USA played as a team and only won by a goal whereas Canada's top lone is too individualistic with the two Macs.
Despite that they only lost by a goal.
The Finns will be just as tough because they embrace team play.

Yeah, I'm from Canada but I wouldn't blame binnington. Mackinnon wasn't good enough, as well as a lot of other players.

With that said, I see no way canada loses to finland. I see a finals of canada and usa and it's extremely hard to beat the same team twice in the same tournament.

With that said, has USA over taken Canada as the best hockey country? It's a lot closer than I'd like to admit - I'll say that much.

We need goalies.

That looked like it was going to be a great fun game to watch and it ended up being brutal. Boring game. Two soft goals against again made it even worse. Binnington best not be starting going forward

Mackinnon was absolute trash tonight. But Binnington let in two soft goals again. He cannot start any more games

You cannot throw this out here now you just can't.Pieterangelo is not injured so where is he ? Theodore got hurt.If Tkachuk can't go rest the tourney that's the way it goes. Its a team sport
Love how people who have no clue throw stones. Petro is hurt and pulled out, hes resting and healing, you cant blame him for that. Hes played for Canada plenty of times and his dedication to his country is not questionable.

The second goal was a goal that's scored many, many times. Over the pad, and under the blocker. Kessel scored that goal how many times when the goalies were expecting it? Let alone when a goalie isn't expecting it.

Taking Doughty looks bad now too. Hes not in game form or shape. We would be fine if Makar was in. But him out, Theo now injured, Petro pulling out due to injury AND Doughty barely healthy. Thats a lot on the back end. Harley surprised me to. Kid was a gamer. But you cant replace Makar.
For offence.. Bouch can replace Makar. But.. you know.lol

Harley has outplayed Heisk this year.. thought that was a brilliant choice.

Doughty was a surprise to me but the man has won it all and I assume they wanted leadership. I imagine he'll be at the Olympics too!

Agreed Mackinnonis trying to do it all himself.
I think they can beat Finns but it won't be easy.

The USA has caught up to Canada by playing Canadian style in an NHL tourney. I am not sure they can do it in a IIHF best on best tourney but Canada no longer dominates any teams other than the obvious teams.
Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery !
