I hope, after seeing how Binnington was in critical moments tonight, that Oilers management saw what a #1 goalie looks like. That is NOT Stuart Skinner or Calvin Pickard
I'm afraid they might have seen the opposite (as I did at times) - that a subpar goalie (sorry to Binnington but he was subpar for most of the tournament) can still come up with saves when they matter. Essentially, Binnington's performance could easily been taken as evidence for some version of "goalies are voodoo" and used as an excuse not to upgrade in net.

I need a safe place to ask this. Was that the most douche-bro sounding crowd you've ever heard? Like in between the exciting plays? It was really weird at times, like some sort of monolith vs the typical crowd sound made up of thousands of different voices. Maybe it's a Boston thing that I never noticed before.

Great game...even better finish.
So great to see McDavid with the game winner. That has to at least fill part of the hole left by losing game 7.
Hopefully it catapults him forward for the rest of the season.

Bennett is a hell of a player. For him to be a stand out player in a game filled with this much talent is remarkable.
Binnington was exactly the right choice to play net. He was absolultely excellent.
I had no idea he could handle the puck so well either. Messed up almost every shoot in for the US...they couldnt sustain a forecheck.
Clutch big game goalie.

So happy that Connor ended it. He was awful all night... Maybe one of his worst games ever. Nothing was going right for him. I suspect he might be sick though... his voice sounded that way at the end.

If the US had won.. I don't think we would hear the end of it about Connor not coming through in big games. Loved that he didn't want to celebrate too hard with that trophy ... You can tell he wants the real Trophy over his head lol.

Way to Canada. Benington was huge.
What a freaking great tournament. I can't wait for the Olympics. Suck it Trump.

That was possibly the tightest hockey game ever played and McDavid impacted all aspects of it imo. It's a testament to how much he's developed as a player really. Without the puck, this series has been the best he has ever played.

There was an invisible torch that was passed in that overtime. Crosby to mcdavid. It is not by luck mcdavid scored the winner. It is in the blood. We still champs!
