He was lackluster tonight, really seemed afraid to challenge guys with his speed and strength.
The US did a great job of trapping and clogging the net. But MacKinnon was doing what he could to generate chances. He wasn’t great but he was one of Canada’s better players.

Mich Marner? Different story. He had a couple of nice passes but outside of that was completely invisible.

You scored one goal and we're blaming goalies and bringing up bs computer stats that mean nothing.

The Canadian excuses tonight have been delicious.

Speaking of being emotional ...

I actually didn't score any goals. Sorry that some stats hurt your feelings. I didn't even post that heatmap but I think it's providing important context considering the way people are talking about Canada's inability to get to the inside.

The only thing more repulsive than being forced to cheer unreservedly for Mitch Marner is doing so and then seeing him play like a fart with legs.

Canada had 65% of xGoals, and twice as many high danger chances.

Goalie difference.

Looked like a typical Hockey Canada game. Relying on one guy to win you a game when you have a team full of all-stars and 30 goal scorers

Was that the worst game Crosby has ever played?
He's had some stinkers, especially during his horrific start to 2015/2016, but this one has to be up there. It's pretty clear the injury is still bothering him, all he did was stand off to the side of the net and handle the puck like a grenade. What surprised me was how weak on the puck he was, I've never seen him get knocked over that many times in a game.

You knowIt's hard to say goaltending cost Canada the game when Binner only let in 2 himself, the empty netter was exactly that an empty net.

The problem is when you let in that 1st goal you can say it and it's true because a save there and the game is in OT.

I think about going to Hill.

As I said before the game we did not escape the game without injury.

Matthew Tkachuk couldn't finish the game.

For him to pull himself from a game I'll be interested to see what it is because he doesn't pull himself from games.

We do indeed.

I understand Toronto fans have been attempting to label Matthews a true Selke center but he simply is not. The entire team was executing well with defensive structure but one would anticipate Matthews doing anything on offense, let alone missing open nets.

He should not be captain. Not Toronto. Not USA.

Buddy are you ok? I was simply disagreeing with your post calling his performance dreadful. While we all expect him to score a million goals, he was stellar defensively including breaking up a 2 on 1 in a 1 goal game… and I already stated earlier it was a defensive clinic by team USA.

And if it bothers you so much maybe you can start an online petition to remove the captaincy, which was given to him by people with much more hockey knowledge than you or me.
