Exactly what I think. All of these players don’t seem to be in game shape and everything is sloppy for all teams. Not only are they out of shape but they’re living in a different situation. This tournament should not be taken seriously at all.

This tournament is taken extremely seriously by a number of countries.

It’s not a star player that Canada is missing, it’s a commitment to a team game. They’ve been hyped as the greatest Canadian team ever.

It seems like it’s gotten to their heads. It’s a bunch of individuals doing their own thing out there. They aren’t going to go far with that kind of attitude.
I agree with the last 2 sentences. The first 3, not so much.

But it shouldn't be taken that seriously in terms of evaluating individual talent.

I'd say that in a normal year, but it's especially applicable this year, and it's worth reiterating when guys are saying Byfield won't be a good NHLer because of games against Switzerland and Slovakia.

Those same people are saying Zegras is a sure fire 100 point guy after feasting on weak teams.

Back to the basics boys. Speedsters on the wing, dump the puck in, put in work on the boards, and have a man open in the slot waiting for a pass. If you outwork them down low, the chances will come.

Yeah of course players can have a bad tournament and be a good pro.

But this is a big stage and a good “stress test” barometer. It’s international best-on-best or as close as you can get for this age group.

I think it is more people saying that every time they watch Byfield play he looks unimpressive. Or, at least, that's what I've been trying to say. I wouldn't make declarations about an individual's entire career based on a single tournament.

Wow, everyone is crazy negative in here. I hold Canada as the clear favourite to win gold and didn't see anything to sway me in that first period. They came out flying the first 5-6 minutes, took the foot off the gas and penalties messed up the rythm of the game. Yeah the PP was lazy and slow. And the penalties they took were clumsy and/or stupid but to me they have a bunch of guys who will shine with the higher intensity the playoff games and facing top teams will bring.

Also don't understand all the crap Byfield gets, he's a bit gangly and messy and looks like he's not quite grown into his body, his timing is slightly off at times but he's also involved in plays, covers a lot of ice, and looks extremely explosive. In that period while by no means dominant I think he was one of Canadas better forwards. His wingers were far worse imo, throwing passes into skates and whatnot. But what the hell do I know, this is my first time seeing a lot of these guys since I missed canadas first two games. But to me the high high upside of Byfield is crazy obvious.

The Byfield hate on here is crazy. He set up the goal and has spent most of the game in the Swiss zone.

What has Newhook or McMichael or Suzuki done better?
No doubt a lot of players are underperforming. Hopefully the boys can pull it together, because no one enjoys watching them struggle. I only wish for every Team Canada player to prosper and have an unreal game.

Getting 2019 vibes. The close win against Slovakia reminds me of the close win against Switzerland in 2019, which was also after a blowout win coincidentally

I don’t see any team lighting us up or even being the favourite against us, but I could see another 2-1 loss in an elimination game unfortunately

Still plenty of time to work on things though

Who is struggling? The shots were 14-3. The score is 1-0.
People expect the globetrotters.

This was supposed to be the best Canadian junior team ever? Kinda sucks what happened to Dach :(
Ive never heard thisbwill be the bestvteam ever and quite frankly i dint think youll see a team like 2005 TC again. That team was as stacked as they come. Crosby, bergeron, carter, richards, perry, weber, phaneuf, seabrook, barker, and more.

Nearly the entire best draft ever of 2003 still eligible and locked out of the NHL. Itlo never be rivaled again.
