It’s not a star player that Canada is missing, it’s a commitment to a team game. They’ve been hyped as the greatest Canadian team ever.

It seems like it’s gotten to their heads. It’s a bunch of individuals doing their own thing out there. They aren’t going to go far with that kind of attitude.

The first 5 minutes in the 1st period was how they need to play in the offensive zone.

Disappointing first.

Also wish the refs would put the whistles away - although I don't remember any bad calls.

This team just doesnt have any huge difference makers at the moment. Every guy has tons of potential but cant seem to put it together. Dach had the "it" factor but now I'm not sure this team can be competitive.

The only part of that period i didn't like for Canada was their 5 on 3 setup... Never looked like scoring. I have faith in Tourigny to address that the rest of the way.

It really was a clinic for the first 5 minutes. The botched 2 man advantage seemed to take the wind out of Canada's sails a bit.

Y'all are reading way too much into this tournament.

I mean people already do too much, but this is the year that it means even less. These are the first few games these guys have played in months.

Exactly what I think. All of these players don’t seem to be in game shape and everything is sloppy for all teams. Not only are they out of shape but they’re living in a different situation. This tournament should not be taken seriously at all.

It seems most years Canada’s blue line is super offensively strong but average defensively and combined with a powerful forward core. This year I think our strongest spot is actually our defensive play and the offensive abilities haven’t shown up (obviously the Germany game was an outlier).

As long as they don’t turn this into another ‘way too close for comfort’ game like versus Slovakia I will be happy with the result.

And Byfield is a 6’4 18 year old who apparently put on a decent amount of mass this offseason while getting no game reps. And he’s still somehow the youngest player on the team. He’ll be fine

Uhhhh come again? This is the most prestigious international tournament any of these players have played in.
