GDT: Canada vs Suomi @3pm PT/ 6pm ET/ 1am EEST

6-3 was kind of what I expected. Didn't think either team was particularly good in this one. Canada was just less bad.

3rd line and the defense were solid. Some good individual performances gave the Canadians the win but wanted to see more from the 2nd and 4th lines.

They took 13 PIM with multiple 5 on 3s. That's not good.

The US would have buried us.
i don't think so, I think the U.S goalie would have ensured that didn't happen because we would have been getting a lot more quality shots then sweden got last night and they barely won that game 3-2.

40 minutes absolute bullshit and last 20 min passable game and only 3 goals lose.
Periods 1 and 2 we were blowing into our balls and just watch that how Canada dominates.

3 period powerplay with only one lucky bounce goal
was so sickening shit even 12 yrs old peewee players are able to play better
and more dangerous powerplay than Antti '' mr smartass'' Pennanen's U20 lions
which were actually neutered kittens tonight.

Hopefully finally even last-one over positive Finn realise that Canada in only gold medal favorite in this tournament.
We have to grow balls next game and be much better than that what we were today.

Antti Pennanen this is for you.
If you have balls and guts to react and make huge changes in our defence and goaltending games
before the quarterfinals start doing your job right now
and if you want only stand like brainless prancie and do nothing
then get the hell out of all Finnish national team coaching jobs for ever.
You're weakest link so f*** off or do your job idiot.

I know. We love you too.
No no no. We are the petulant little brother who tries to rebel every chance we get (and quite successfully in the last years, we don't even need to say 'ysiviis' or '6-1' anymore). Stick to the script! ;)

Anyhow good game, well deserved win by Canada but there was some fighting spirit for Finland too (although should've scored more on the PP for sure). Very entertaining moments!

What was with the 2 different commercial breaks during Finland's 5 min PP on that major? I think that Canada would've probably won regardless of this, so it's not an excuse and I'm just wondering.

I've seen commercial breaks during major penalties before but I don't remember seeing one PP/PK with two different commercial breaks. I hate the fact that they do put commercial breaks at all during power plays. I can't imagine if the situation was reversed, so that Canada would be trailing behind 2-5 and getting some momentum like Finland did, but it would still be played in Canada. I don't think that two different commercial breaks would've happened there in that case to help Finland. That must have been a little home team special.

Anyways, this was a good learning experience for Finland and I think that Finland vs Canada in the final will be a much closer game. I do think that these teams will meet again there.

Harder to score when you're pking. Maybe not buried but they would have got a couple at least.

Finland came in with a powerplay running at better than 60 percent, so…..
Playing Slovakia, Latvia, and the Czechs.
The Finns are as good as the Americans. Canada played really well and they handled everything going wrong in the 3rd.

A million things can go wrong but they are definitely the Gold Medal favourites.

The Finns aren't as good as the Americans and don't have Luke Hughes qbing or the skill upfront.

Didn't say Canada weren't GM favourites, only that I don't think they were all that great in this game.

The Finns are better than the Americans up front. They might even be better than the Americans in net.

The Americans are the best defensive team in the tournament.

Absolutely, damn IIHF allowing commercial breaks during major penalties. Should be more like the NHL, which does not allow commercial breaks during major penalties.

I mean, CONSPIRACY. And of course when I say conspiracy, I do not mean Finland getting a goal that never should have counted due to both referee and technical error. I mean the great commercial break conspiracy.

Weird game. Finland looked good at times, but were either unlucky(iron), or lacking the skill to take advantage of their opportunities. CAN, OTOH, were ok, but absolutely made the most of their chances.

They have got to be more careful of their stick penalties....the kneeing was a reflex thing, IMO. I don't think he'll make a habit of it. Desnouyer and Del Maestro can't be trying to sweep check pucks from behind the puck carrier...that's asking for a tripping call.

I can easily see Finland beating Canada in a later game, but i can also see someone like Bedard ripping off three goals in a game.
