Congrats to Kevin Poulin (Medvescak Zagreb) for nomination on Canada's team. First time since 1972. for my home team to have player(s) at Olympics. Other possible is candidate is Olden for Norway.

Gilbert Brule and Carey Price have made the same number of Canadian Olympic Teams.

The Blue Jackets 2005 Draft Video is no longer a disaster.

Plus Brule made more Canadian Olympic teams than Kopitar.

P.S. Favorite quotes from this video.

"Are you ******* kidding me. The Habs are taking the goalie."

"I'm happy to be a Columbus Blue Jacket, I guess" - Gilbert Brule

you know the tournament is a bum tournament when you read this

"Defenceman Cale Makar, who starred for Canada at the World Juniors in Buffalo, declined an invitation from Hockey Canada to focus on his game at UMass-Amherst."

oh go to korea and have a chance to play at the Olympics? nah id rather go to school.

Cale is smart to not have his name attached to this mishmash of neverwas players. this is forsure not the way to lure new fans across the globe to the game we all love.

True, I was mostly using the term amateur because the guy I quoted did and I didn't feel like calling him out on it. But our pros in this tournament are likely to be significantly worse than those from Russia, Sweden, Finland, etc.

They are for the most part top quality in their respective leagues? Russia and Finns may have the upper hand as more of their guys don't make the trip to NA.

Russia, Sweden and Finland have more guys who stay in Europe to play because they would prefer to be there than 4th liners in the NHL. Our team is guys who can no longer play in the NHL. I hope I'm wrong, and I wish them luck, but it's hard to have confidence in this group of guys. The one positive I will be interested in, will be to see if we have any standouts that get a shot to come back to the NHL because of their performance in this tournament.

Can no longer play as top 6 players in the NHL, the european players never played in those roles.

I'd say only Russia has guys who might be top 6 NHLrs now. Kovalchuk? Gusev? Kaprizov? Voinov is a top 4 on any NHL team.
But I'm not seeing it with any other euro squad.

If anyone would have said 4 years ago that Ben Scrivens was going to the starter for Team Canada at the 2018 Olympics they would have been sent straight to the Lonnie bin.

I like the part where they have to decide between Brule and Kopitar. The scout that pushed for Kopitar in LA is actually a scout for the Jackets now.

Without checking I think the Canucks may have the most former players on TC. Lapierre, Roy, Ebbett, Raymond, Vey, Gragnani. Anyone else have 6 or more?

Wolski - Roy - Raymond
Bourque - Brule - O’Dell
Howden - Lapierre- Kozun
Ebbett - Kelly - Klinkhammer
Vey, Thomas

Lee - Elliott
Golubef- Gragnani
Stollery - Genoway
Noreau- Robinson

Scrivens
Poulin
Peters

Avs have six guys there, four of them are defensemen from the Dark era :(

Stefan Elliott, Cody Goloubef, Maxim Noreau, Karl Stollery, Rene Bourque and of course Wojtek Wolski.

This is gonna be... interesting.... I hope Finland wins, or the Czech Republic, if Jagr is there.

That defense....wow! Still shocked at some of the names left off...Spaling, Parenteau, Despres...thought those 3 would have been on the team for sure

Bourque in his first shift in todays game against Färjestad with a huge hit....

He is leading the way. This canadian team will play the body.

they are not. all players on the canadian roster are top players in KHL-NLA-SHL-AHL.

Russia is best, but Canada, USA, Sweden, Finland and Czech are equal.

This isn't NHL '10 game. Just because Roy was good back then he isn't going to center the first line over actual decent players this being 2018. The fact that you healthy-scratched a guy who is over PPG in the KHL currently and put the guy who didn't really cut it in the KHL at all on the 1st line tells me you aren't really someone who should post this.

Having said that, after I saw the first 3 names on the list I came here. Is there really someone on Earth who thinks Peters is 3rd best Canadian goalie not in the NHL... This is a brutal team overall.. That defense.. Like what the hell are you thinking. It just doesn't make sense, honestly. Good for Hockey Canada nobody follows anyone of those guys anymore so basically the could have just picked up anyone and nobody would have minded.
