Not sure why anyone is tripping about the quality of this team, no NHL, no candies. Granted, they could have taken a few risks with the young ones, but the fact that there is no McDavid / Lindros this year probably explains that.

This isn't 1994, despite there being no NHLers in the tourney, the hype hangover is still there for Olympic hockey and if these "no name" boys take home the gold for us it will certainly make folk heroes out of them.

I must be one of the weird ones. I’m actually looking forward to this team. Probably because I’m an oilers fan and I got literally nothing else to look forward too this spring hockey wise.

It will be nice cheering on the underdogs for once. The last Olympics was literally a clinic for team Canada. The roster sure for the current is not impressive at all but we all said the same thing about Vegas expecting them to get steamrolled. I’m not expecting them to make any noise in this tourney but boy it would be something if they took it all with essentially Canada’s F team. I’ll be watching for sure.

Yep. Cheering for the underdog Canadian hockey team will be a different, yet ultimately satisfying experience I think.

Justin Azevedo seems like a pretty big omission. I realize he was injured for the euro tour so they couldn't get a prolonged look at him on the the team. But he's ppg in the khl, and I don't really think Canada is in a position to exclude high end offensive players.

I'm as bummed as the next guy.. But I'll watch, and enjoy the tourny. Gonna be odd seeing a level playing field out there, and not cheering for "big bad" Team Canada.

I cant wait for the Olympic tournament to start, its gonna be very interesting to watch, i wish it was always like this, the NHL players shouldn't be allowed to participate, the same goes for the NBA players at the summer Olympic, if the NHL and NBA wants to have best on best let them do it with their own tournament. Bring home the gold boys!!!

My first thought was: "Hey Derek, the gold medal for Diving is at the summer Olympics," but yeah.
Hopefully Russia wins, if not them then Finland.
