that's called taking the hit to make the play. shouldn't be penalized. if you don't want to be hit like that, don't make the play. the coach won't like it, but you shouldn't be punished for making a good decision to play the body and force someone into a situation like that

I'd be good with refs just stopping play on those hits and not calling them at all. Players have got to quit turning. You're asking for it.

That was an o.k hit...............the russian player couldnt have stopped at that point.

Canada outworks Russia in period two...........................3-1

Strome and Dubois need to be better.

Strome looks real slow out there. He loses battles and misses chances because he can't keep up. He's making very poor decisions on the power play. Shoots into shin pads and turning the puck over. He's lucky he potted the goal. I hope he turns things around here in the third.

Dubois looks like he really lacks hockey IQ he rushes his plays. He needs to make better decisions with the puck. Their line hasn't been great on the PP or 5on5.

I was going to say this about Strome as well

Some folks here need to take a look at a rule book. Never has a player "turning" been a reason to negate a boarding penalty. The onus is on the checker, and this is a good example of why you don't try and take a 90° run at a player along the boards.

That was a dumb decision by Juulsen. I'm hoping they find someway to curtail that play by players. It seems way more common now for players to turn at the last second to try to draw calls

I doubt he turned to draw the call. That would be unbelievably stupid not to mention dangerous.

Please tell me this is sarcasm. :help:

And he got a two minute penalty for boarding. Move on

I don't blame the Russian player and I don't blame Juulsen.

He turned to get the puck and the Russian was already setting up his hit.

Still a penalty but nothing dirty.

This is the correct answer.

....damn, that's harsh. Barely 40 minutes into the tourney. :shakehead

I wish the naysayers would give these kids more time.

That take is so hot right now...
