I'm shocked there hasn't been any news at all on Bertuzzi, Mantha, Athanasiou. I'm assuming Canada reached out to all 3, but I haven't heard anything.
Those 3 must have got an invite based on some of the players who have gotten the invites. Not many Canadians not in the playoffs ended the season as hot as these three.

I'm not interested in him on the team, but I'm also going to assume that he isn't eligible until there is some credible evidence otherwise. Apparently he was trying to get citizenship when he was WJC eligible but there were issues that prevented it from happening.

Last I heard he had no interest representing the Netherlands either, so is he sort of stuck in no-man's land with regards to International hockey representation? Not that I think he's quite ready for Canada yet, even in this competition (unless we are looking really thin). I wouldn't want Virtanen anywhere near this team either, these guys would be middle 6 depth guys for the likes of Germany or Switzerland...

Shawzy literally had as good a year as a lot of 'allstar' type guys. He outplayed Pacioretty. Im not saying Shaw is by any means better than patioretty but he does deserve an invite and stayed disciplined all year. Hes worth the call with the amount of rejections and players always lose playing time after the first round. Plain and simple in my mind. Put players out until half the teams are eliminated then hope for the best

Darcy Kuemper in a back up role for this team isnt too bad, especially with the year he's had. After last year tho he shouldnt be near the starting position for this tournament.

Looks like players from

Tampa
Jets
Maybe avalanche

Might be available

I'm assuming they are waiting for second round players to start announcing as I haven't heard any other players except the ones from Philadelphia

Is there a list of accepted players ?

A long ways away from the TOR/Bruins series being decided, and not sure if Sid would be ever up for this tournament again, but an all Nova Scotia line of Marchand Crosby MacKinnon would sure take the sting out of the whole McDavid situation. It's probably the only thing that would motivate Sid to play this tournament again - hanging with his off-season training partners.

Debrusk Scheifele Point 2nd. line sounds okay to me as well. I can live with that. Although I'd prefer Huberdeau and Debrusk on the 3rd. line sounds to me like the makings of a contender. not sure what the situation is with him.

Looked like Debrusk hurt his shoulder in game one. Gonna play through it no doubt but probably puts into question whether he would accept anything afterwards.

Nathan MacKinnon with the 'don't book my ticket to Slovakia just yet' snipe. What a beauty of a goal. I love watching him play. looking forward to seeing how Makar does in the heat of playoff action. If looks good, then book him for a Top 4 role in Slovakia should the Avs bow out. I'm torn though, want Nate to go on a long extended playoff run here.

After last nights manhandle by Boston and kadris coming suspension I say "hello marner "

Lol goodbye Toronto

They are not as good as I thought. They need another top

I'd like to have Marner, but he's a RFA, so not likely he plays...like practically zero. Tavares and Rielly, however, would be a shot in the arm for our gold medal aspirations. J.T. always talked a good game his first few years in the league on how he would never say no if Hockey Canada comes calling. I'll be upset if he declines this year (unless injured) and will turn in my J.T. fanclub membership card.

turn in would be saying it politely. more like ripping it up and throwing it into my firepit.

I'm surprised that there hasn't been more news on the Florida players. I have no doubt that Hockey Canada would have approached Huberdeau, Ekblad and Matheson by now. No cap issues. I guess it could be due to lack of media attention.

Also, Makar is joining Colorado for the playoffs.
