Cameron Crotty and Markus Phillips are the 2 guys that stick out to me as shockers.

Those were the big ones to me. I don’t like their chances in camp at all, I guess Hockey Canada does but at some point what’s the point. IMO 5 locks on D, 5 guys for the other 2 spots, these 2 won’t make it.

Knew Lavoie had a chance to make it but it’s definitely a shocker. Looking forward to seeing him out there.

Very disappointed Cozens and Dach didn't get invited. Would have liked to see them both on the team.

This is like the years Seguin and Duchene didn't make it.

Lavoie gets the invite over Dach. I know hockey Canada has their favourites and he is 2000 born but Dach is by far the better player.

I guess cause Lavoie is a winger and the centre depth is stacked? But im sure Dach couldve played wing and its not like theres a big size discrepancy.

Yeah Crottyand Phillips for me as well. Obviously Crotty wouldnt be going as an offensive dman for them but really whats the point in inviting a guy with 0 points in 13 games in the NCAA this year. Only had 8 last year. He doesnt stand a chance at camp, at that point why not have one less player and be able to have more eyes on others?

Neither would play a big role at all if either of them makes it so it probably comes down to Lavoie filling more of a role theyre looking at than actually being better than Dach. Maybe they want a big goal scoring winger for a role over a play making center. Lavoie is probably competing more with guys like Lafreniere, Leason etc and will be cut

No Mattheos? Not that I've followed either of these players that much recently but strikes me as a bit odd that a guy like Entwistle gets an invite and Mattheos does not.

I like that the camp roster is larger, but I am surprised by how many defencemen there are relative to the forwards. I like that they should be able to run nearly full scrimmages against each other. The only player I am particularly disappointed not to see there is Mattheos, but his exclusion isn't exactly shocking. I am also surprised by Crotty. Not really surprised by Lavoie, he is a big goal scoring winger and there is a place on Canada for such a player, though the spot won't likely go to him.

No HUGE surprises imo, Lavoie over Dach/Cozens a lot of people probably didn't see coming. No Jett Woo but Bouchard, Dobson and Smith clearly ahead of him in terms of 2018 picks and the D-core can't be all 2018 picks

Mattheos has a way of disappearing for stretches especially when playing against top teams/players. This years camp/team is stacked compared to previous years. Some very tough decisions will have to be made.

You never know how players will come together as a team. Short round robin tournaments can leave you in 5th in the blink of an eye.

Having said that, and all things being equal it should take an exceptionally talented crew to beat a lineup created from this roster.

Not saying we'll win gold, that's why they play the games, however so far so good!

Didn’t think Merkley was going to make the team but to not even get an invite despite leading OHL dmen in scoring as an 18 year old is surprising

Was thinking the same for Jason Robertson.....kid's been lighting it up this year in the OHL, got traded from a brutal Kingston team and he racks up another 14 points in his first 5 games with Niagara.

27-25-52 statline through 29 games.

Must be a really stacked roster to exclude him, I guess.

He's American. Fully expect to see him invited to the U.S. camp!
