What even is this example lol.

Im not even gonna go further with you, its like talking to a brick wall. His analysis sucked because it was dull and was barely an analysis, and the points he made are discredited by how Lafreniere actually played the game. Not my fault its too hard for you to comprehend. Have fun writing your next paragraph of whatever.
I have understood what you think your point was the entire time, though you have failed to construct any meaningful grounds to support the claim. You say I am dense but you literally took my first sentence as accusing me of pegging your argument as a pro-lafreniere one, despite it clearly being directed towards your procedural objection. Then you project your inability to comprehend arguments onto me because I had to reiterate an my initial counterargument that you never once rebutted, because you were more interested in strawmen debates about the game.

Even above you clearly refrain from defending your initial claim, making the new argument that his argument was "dull", which is a completely nebulous and subjective parameter, and "barely analysis", which means nothing because it's a claim, not a potential parameter. But in refraining from defending your initial claim "analysis is poor if criticism is exclusively directed at one player", I get the sense that you understand now how ridiculous that claim is. Then you feel the need to act superior and throw a few insults on top of it for your ego. Whatever, if it makes you feel better.

US boy here and I love all of you Canucks! Hockey is your thing and I'm glad that you can thump your chest about it. Maple Syrup is good. Poutine.....wtf? You're all funny. Flyers are my number one team, but the next 10 on my list consist of all of the Canadian teams. US hockey has come a long way, but its still yours and I'm ok with it.

Lafreniere topic - he looks good and will be good. Dude just has a problem with him. I have some of those players that I just dont like and will say they suck even if I know deep down, they really dont (Dougie Hamilton is one). Maybe that is what is happening?
Maple Syrup? Poutine? On dira bin squ’on voudra su’é Américains mais calvasse le Yankee y sait de quoi y parle.

Our media here in Canada gives us a steady diet of that propaganda, most notably the chest thumping commercials. It also has to do with a culture that has an inferiority complex due to it's relationship with its much bigger brother, the US. Hockey is the thing we know we're really good at, above all else and as a nation we like to proudly proclaim that. As for the "Our game" part of that, Canada also happened to create and develop the sport... so there's that. My only point here is that, yes, some Canadians on this site will come off as arrogant about the sport, but just understand that the country raised them to be that way.
Honestly, no Canadian has ever come across to me as arrogant, except a few of the "glory-days to doomsday" guys (maybe 2 people). This, even though they probably have a right to he arrogant.

I'm not Canadian but I love watching TSN previews and team Canada commercials. They're better than anything in American sports. They're soapy, but that's the charm. The commentators and everyone involved actually seem like they love the tournament, like they're passionate about it and they're pulling for these kids to win. And the fandom and festive nature surrounding the team is wonderful. It's like an extra week of Christmas.

I don't know what caused the guy to initially complain about Canadian hockey passion and fandom, but I'd just say don't let one experience define Canadian fandom.

Watched the last game against Switzerland and a couple things jumped out to me.

1) Our defense has skills by the bucketload but can't seem to make the simple, efficient play most of the times. It also needs to tighten up and cut down on high-quality chances or we will get murdered later in the tournament.

2) Cody Glass is an absolute beast and will quite probably be the single best forward on this team for the entire tournament.

3) Jack Studnicka impressed me out there. He played hard, took pretty good shots, and made fairly few bad plays. It just sucks that he's Bruins property and thus the everlasting subject of my (playful, but intense) hatred.

4) I like the swiss players' names, like ''Nando Eggenberger''. It just speaks to me on an earthier, more base, level that I honestly just find fun, and explicit.

5) Our roster (and Switzerland's) is still only in pre-tournament form. Chemistry hasn't set in completely yet and it showed on defensive assignments and quick passing plays (more like, turnover central, the new Sportsnet special). We expect and will see better once it's time for the real competition.

Anyways, I wish you fellow Hockey nuts happy holidays and a merry WJC. Cheers, and try to drink (ir)responsibly.

guys... let's not forget that we are all individuals, and each observe things uniquely. there is enough room for everyone's 'opinion'. there will be posters with attitudes, but let's not get into generalizing about fans (from any nation).

now, back to the topic. is anyone familiar with Hunter's systems? could they be the reason that we are struggling? is Hunter usually successful at the WJC?

i have just started paying attention, and appreciate the reviews so far. how are the goalies so far? getting excited, as this is the 1st year that i really feel like a hockey nut, lol.

also, thanks to the mods for keeping things civil. :)

Reactions: Gold Standard
I like the sound of the reshuffled Suzuki line: Lafreniere Anderson-Dolan Suzuki. It puts Lafreniere back to his natural position and it puts the better defensive player in the middle and frees up Suzuki. Let's not hope for some solid and consistent defensive pairings.

where does this put Leason?
is he headed for the fourth line or even lower?

I would had liked to see healthy Vilardi and Formenton and St-Louis Blues' Thomas with the team.

Haven't read through but is this thread basically a 'my teams prospect deserves to be on the team over yours' thread?

Actually it hasn’t really been that bad at all. Nothing compared to how nauseating the 2016 one was.

I think we’re pretty unified in wanting Gold on home soil over pettiness. Heck, my favourite player on this team, Comtois, is from the Anaheim Ducks who I almost hate as much as the Flames.

When it comes to the national team, we are Canadians and country first.

I may miss this game because of work but I am in agreement with slater in that I would love to see solid and consistent defensive pairs this evening.

Brook on his offside didn't turn my crank last game.
