Bean is not good at all wow. I'm astonished at how bad he is.

I really do think that Bean has the chance to solidify his place as Canada's worst defenceman ever at the WJC. We shall see. I only half watched the first half of the first period due to the good work of some lovely ladies, but from what I've seen Bean looks like his regular self. Not a very good skater and prone to unnecessary turnovers. And yet he has been viewed as a lock by Hockey Canada for two years running.

Two things I liked from the first period - the defence looks very fast, and the depth lines are going in fast and hard on the forecheck. Guys like Comtois or Formenton aren't going to challenge for the tournament scoring lead but they are often able to quickly and ably execute their roles on the team. Can't take much from one exhibition period of course, but those two factors are nice to see.

Bean with the beautiful snipe after perfect face off by Thomas (what a player, my lord).

Bean does that a couple times in the tournament, and he’s justified for being on the team. What a wrister.

Worst defenceman in team Canada history with a beauty snipe
ha ha I am glad I didnt post my post

This Czech team is nowhere near a good test for a finalized Canada team (minus Dube and possibly Fabbro). Its nice to be excited but when time and space gets smaller/shorter I can foresee ppl posting about how they knew this team was just a bunch of grinders. At least they seemingly are willing to skate hard and appear fast which is definitely a positive.

Makar is absolutely outstanding. Really, the entire team looks extremely good. Only mistakes I’ve seen are those that you’d expect to come from players not used to playing together. That’ll come.
Him and Clague seem to be double shifting. What happened to Mete? Lol...

The guy who hit Howden got decked by Formenton and the Czech player, Salda I think was holding his shoulder after the big hit he received from Formenton. Need to play like that, hit them back and hurt em if they try to take cheap shots on us.

Funny that he just scored. But yeah, if anybody saw the first period he didn't have 1 good shift, all his shifts were bad. Just so slow with the passes and skating, can't keep up with the Czechs will get burned against other teams. He should be PP and 7th D.

Also, Mete’s positioning and stick work is incredible. Seems like he was being underrated on here, but his passing, skating, and the aforementioned attributes are about as good as you could hope for anyone at this level.

That breakout he just started was a thing of beauty. His skating is exceptional.

Weak hook against Batherson

Just kidding. Let’s see how well our PK is.

Edit: we’re still getting all the offensive opportunities lol. The speed of this team is impressive.

I saw an article from the Canadian newswires today. Mete said in Montreal he didn't have to adjust much...

What he learned in London and how they played in London was essentially the same...

Keep your eyes on London Knight defensemen with skills... good draft choices...

Me and my friends do a WJC championship pool with Canadian players every year. Usually I have a pretty good idea on who to draft, but this year im lost. Especially with the forwards.

Who do you guys think are the forwards who will get most offensive opportunity and PP time? Thanks in advance!
