I have a very difficult time believing the same team that lost to Tampa last year has improved enough around the edges to beat Tampa this year.

It's the same team. With the same problems. Heading straight for the same results.

Stamkos punches Tavares in the head and what is the response? Nothing. The backs of five guys skating towards the bench and laughing it off.

Cause getting punched in the head is so funny.

The incremental improvements at the bottom of the roster aren't enough. Tampa's core is superior to the Leafs and has been for years. Adding depth players like O'Reilly and McCabe are great for a team that is a true contender.

Which the Leafs aren't.

This franchise is in a crisis. Losing against Tampa again will only expose it to a wider audience. As a fan, I'm concerned about the outlook for my favorite team.

Both the present and the future appear concerning.
Vegas odds has the Leafs as the fourth best bet to win the Cup, behind Boston, Colorado and Carolina… you do know, Vegas does not do this for non-contenders.

Do you even watch or follow NHL hockey?

Production at 5v5 by tampa core
Stamkos 2.10 pts/69
Kucherov 2.02/60
Hedman 1.48
Point 1.05

Matthews 4.02
Marner 3.28
Rielly 1.57
Tavares 1.44
Nylander 1.35

The only area where any core player from tampa was better... vasilevskiy

Overal leafs core was better than tampa core but tampa depht outplayed leafs depht... thats why leafs lost

Tampa lost palat, mcdonaugh and ruutta, 3 HUGE piece of lightning succes and didn't replace none of those player...

Leafs lost muzzin mikheyev and campbell and add in ror, acciaria, jarnkrok, lafferty mccabe, murray and samsonov...

So since the same moment last season and right now

Tampa is a worst team than what they never be in last 4-5 season

And toronto is a better team tha what they are at the same moment last season

Post 1 of 128 in 40 days. This guy is definitely a troll from another team.

I'm going to guess a salty Jets fan.
Ahhh I was wondering that... Cheering for a team like this would be the same as being happy in an abusive relationship. At some point enough has to be enough...

Is that why the rest of your posts are shitting on the team? I guess we all express ourselves differently...
One way or the other I'm getting what I want.

Either the team goes deep in the playoffs.

Or management will almost certainly all be fired.

My only fear is that they beat Tampa and lose to Boston in a seven game series and ownership decided it's good enough to run it all back still yet again.

I've been online for years. I guarantee ML$E PR knows exactly who I am. It's only recently I brought my agenda to a larger audience.

I'm sick of the losing and I'm making a stink about it.

Everyone on this site should be.

Can the leafs beat Tampa: absolutely

But that isnt really the right question:
Will the leafs beat Tampa: No

My opinion is purely based off thr historical failure of this core at every possible instance in the playoffs and I guess me being a pessimist

I will probably put some cash down against the Leafs in round 1 so I have something to celebrate either way lol. Given I never win bets it seems best

It's super strange to me how many people (and apparently Leafs fans) still act like our core performed worse than Tampa's. Did they even watch the series? Even if not this stuff is pretty easy to look up lol

We actually got f***ed over so bad lmao

TOR 6.1 penalties per game in the playoffs
BOS 6.0 penalties per game in the playoffs

It was about time, "its the ref" excuse got an excel sheet face. Never mind it just tells we take less than average penalties during regular the season if it tells you anything

I'll give you 10 points for creativity, using regular season data- the number of penaties we take, to prove refs are onto us :DD

What is irrational are the fans who expect the team to lose in the future when they are winning in the present and demand changes be made because of the inevitability of losing.
Anxiety is the real pandemic.
Do ya ever read the game threads, irrationality blooming like madness in the spring

What does Boston have to do with us? That comparison does nothing but show we got a similar number of penalties (which isn't the point of the graphic)

And we take less than average penalties during the regular season, then suddenly become the most penalized team in the playoffs. Makes a lot of sense!

I'm not using regular season data just for us lol, this is for every single playoff team. Toronto clearly got reffed to a different standard come playoff time as well as Dallas. With the Stars it at least made sense since A.) They got outplayed to an insane extent B.) Their opponent, Calgary, got called for a lot as well and is third on this list

Outside of raw totals it was the timing of the penalties that were infuriating (game 6)

Its fun, Guy Boucher talked about it in a french poadcast about how fans think because a team still with the same jersey, they think thats mean they are the same team by talking about tampa and colorado.

The same way colorado is not the same team without landeskog and kadri, tampa is not the same team withour 2 key player and leader in mcdonaugh and palat

Don’t forget Luke Schen, I’m sure he will get here eventually

From your posting style, my guess is that if they know who you are, that probably means you're banned from the premises.

This post of yours made me laugh like I haven't laughed in some time, thanks buddy. :)

That's the way it feels to me too. They're still a bit scary because they're still TB and a team like could be just sleepwalking through the regular season but ... it does feel like they're not the team they once were. I love the adds we made at the TDL as well and the way Marner is playing lately, I'm feeling pretty bullish about this team right now.

f*** no as soon as the leafs start getting ahead then the refs cut in so as not to lose their bets on who will win and to cover their spread

Laugh all you want.

If you find it a laughing matter that your favorite team, which should be THE franchise team of the NHL, is the laughing stock of the entire hockey universe, then go ahead... Laugh it up.

I guarantee ML$E is laughing all the way to the bank.

All the fans hard earned money spent on merchandise and tickets to support billionaire's paying millionaires to play a game for a living.

Pretty good gimmick if you can get in on it.

It's so funny our hometown team, the TORONTO Maple Leafs, "a PUBLIC TRUST with the greatest fan base in the world" is an embarrassment for setting a record in all professional sports: six consecutive losses in the first round of the postseason.

And we're paying for it all.

Yeah... It is pretty funny when you think about it.
