Na, I mean it's fun to think about and all, but what we do or say has no effect on the outcome of the game. We either look like geniuses or complete jackasses.

As a great man once said, it's the way she goes. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't.

Hfboards has a parade every year when the Leafs get eliminated and we are lectured on being humble haha

I don't understand how you can watch the Leafs the past 3 seasons and think they are a garbage club and not incredibly unlucky to not have advanced. Starting in the Canadian division under Keefe's first full year as coach when he got to put in his system, the Leafs have been a top 5 NHL team and a top 10 defensive team.

Explain?

So how many times have the Leafs been the better team the last 6 years?

I'm not talking about 6 years. The Babcock team that had 8 rookies on it and lost to the Caps is so far removed from today's roster, system, and experience why not talk about their loss in 2013 or their elimination in 2002?

Leafs went from a run and gun team to a structured team. Their players are not kids anymore they are in their prime years. They aren't a bottom 5 defensive team they are a top 5. I can keep going.

Leafs were the better team the past 2 years.. the sample size of my comment.

I understand but don't you guys believe in a higher force? Hockey entities that control your fate? How else would you lose against Colombus and Montreal. I wouldnt want to anger them if i was you

Jones/god-mode Korpisalo and Weber/god-mode Price is a little different than Marc Staal and Bobrovsky.

Idk man the habs had a dog meat roster on paper still don't understand what happened. Playoff hockey just a different beast. No doubt florida is vulnerable on the back end these days

Campbell can't handle pressure and allows bad goals early, both teams park the bus and play the trap for 40 minutes. It's still on our forwards to break through that but playing that game is a lot easier when you have several 6'2+ D with big wingspans clogging lanes in the D zone and a goalie deciding to be a brick wall for 7 games.

Leafs need to let their D sit back and defend imo. Costly pinches and ozone rotations to maintain possesion kills them. When it works its a thing of beauty and they hem you in for so long but boy is the odd mistake in that situation costly. Keefe seems to be finding a better balance these days with the D

Yeah the 2 minute cycle that ends in Rielly missing the net and creating a break the other way when it bounces off the boards and out of the zone is a killer, they need to prioritize shovelling garbage at the net every chance they get instead of trying to set up a perfect 6 pass tic tac toe play.

The Leafs will destroy the Panthers if they meet in the playoffs

can we just agree that this conversation has been had before?

both teams are equally liable to fail in the first round.
Panthers actually won in their first round last season.

Whether they end up at 7 or 8 could have a big impact on how long the season lasts.

Metro is wide open for surprises, Carolina will struggle with scoring.
The Atlantic is a damm nightmare

Amazing that they made the playoffs not on the back on their 10 mil goalie or their stud former 1st round pick, but instead because of 30 year old journeyman Alex Lyon.

Great job by Lyon. I have to imagine they continue to run with him in the playoffs as well. Hopefully he can parlay this performance into a modest payday.

This is why I was against that signing from day one. The goalie position is an enigma. It’s the most important position while also being the one that literally does fall out of trees….from Cam Ward, Leighton, Niemi, to Murray and Bennington and even Kuemper. Nobodies have come out of nowhere to win it all or go to the finals.

I’m hoping Lyon does go on an insane Giguere run in the playoffs but we’ll see. To be honest I’m just happy we made it. After all the player depth we had to let go of during the offseason, I did not like our chances and had made peace with that; specially with how most of our season had been going. But Maurice chewed their heads off in Toronto and we won that game and went on this win streak and we squeezed in. I’m happy so far.
