While watching a game like that, you can sense that they just don’t the “it” factor. It’s like they just don’t care and just go through the motions.

The image of Nylander laughing after the puck got away from him on a breakaway is a prime example.
Some would say they are just playing loose, not necessarily a bad thing. Game was iced by then anyway.

You've never laughed during sports when something bad happens like that? It's almost like a "I can't believe that just happened" type of reaction.

It could have iced it. 4-0 with ~ 5 mins left.

They are loose as a goose and don’t care that they lack a killer mentality.

Especially when the game is all but won and you were going for the hat trick. Willie has been one of our most consistent forwards and is no longer taking many nights off. Good to see him smiling at that point of the game.

Nylander having a chuckle after the puck bounced away from his stick on a breakaway for the hat trick, in an early-season game they already iced, isn't indicative of a lack of killer instinct.

If he had scored that goal, you would have just been demanding a 5th. Some people are never satisfied.

I had no problem with it. I'm sure if they were down 3-1 or something his reaction would have been quite different.

To be fair, Engvall kinda finished his check with 6 seconds left when the Flyers were just running out the clock. I laughed about it.

Wow. 2 incredibly soft 6’5 players peeved at each other.

Could have escalated to a full blown “You’re a big dummy! Yeah? You’re a bigger dummy” incident.

Luckily the kept the blood off the ice.

How can you be dissappointed in Matthews? He played a good 200ft game, got 2 assists and was double covered most of the game!
He got those assists basically doing nothing and that double coverage is an excuse. Mcdavid gets around it every game, so is ovechkin, so does every star player.

disappointing was harsh, he was just ok, defensively solid, offensively, he played like kerfoot on his good games. he wasn’t physical at all when he needs to be, and he can’t find any chemistry with anyone right now. Still he can build on this and return to his former dominant self soon

Great rebound game after the last one.

Campbell looked great and we finally got a glimpse of secondary scoring.

I think Holl should return to the press box, though.

Go Leafs Go!
Agreed. Holl looks lost out there. Time to move on from him. Its bad when Marancin is better than Holl.

Looked like a classic case of not being prepared to be hit. I don't think Engvall hit the guy any harder than his normal blah forecheck hits, he just hit a guy who wasn't bracing himself for a hit. Undoubtedly there was some incident during the game that Engvall remembered.

Great effort on the road.

Campbell and Nylander were standouts, and Ritchie and Kase had their best games in a Leaf uniform.
Until the game, I thought Ritchie seemed like he didnt want to be here. Perhaps management took him aside. He better get it through his thick skull he is a leaf now. 4 shots total all season and 5 shots last night. If we get that Ritchie, things will be good.

Matthews with 2 points. Only in Leafland are fans unhappy when our superstar only gets 2 points. I thought he was solid defensively also. He got back and broke up 4 plays. Naw guys, nothing wrong with Matthews game at all tonight. I wished all our players skated as hard as he does. He played a solid 200 foot game, helped greatly on the d side of the puck and picked up a couple apples.

Is it just me or did Lilly get crazy good over night? Man I like his game. No mistakes or giveaways at all last night. Was on the offense a lot last night and because he is such a great skater, he gets back in time. I think Lilly surpassed Sandin.

I think it's more about context. They're running out the clock with less than 10 seconds left and Engvall comes in and does a small push to Provorov.

I have no problem with it because I'm sure throughout the game, he was sticked or had an extra slash.
