Post-Game Talk: Campbell plays, Leafs win

Turns out the 1-6 slump has meant f*** all with how good they’ve been since coming out of it.

I am shocked!

Don't forget their mods talking about how they need to be slashing Matthews' wrists more. Must be tough watching a team with no one even worth injuring, I feel for them.
One mention of Covid and your posts are gone, too.

Kind of worried about Nylander and Tavares
They aren’t getting anything going we’ve tried Galchenyuk, Thornton, Hyman, Kerfoot and nothing’s worked. They really need to step cuz they aren’t providing anything as a second line

nylander 36- 13-13-26
Tavares 36 - 10-18-28

They really need to pick it up, but it’s already been over half the season and they haven’t so I don’t have high hopes:(
That line has been very good, the goals will come if the chances keep coming

Galchenyuk has been great since he has come up IMO. They do need to figure it out but give them time to gel.

Really Thorton needs to be dropped down to the third line. Hyman still stirs the drink. I hope they can convince him to sign for cheaper by giving him a max length contract and front loading the hell out of it.

The win is good and all but I didn't particularly think we paid well. Thankfully we played a flat team or the results could have been different. We continue to be weak along the boards and overplay defense to the side of the puck, leaving open men when the board battles are lost.
PP is atrocious with too many guys standing still and nobody in front screening.
Gally is a lovely player, engaged good strength and some speed. But, he can join the ranks of the stone hand brigade (Kerfoot, Engval, Mik, Rielly, jumbo and maybe one or two more).
We never seem to have the energy level or drive against other teams as we do against Edmonton. They bring the best out of this team. The Peg will be better prepared for us next game.

It feels good to not be looking behind the goalie on every shot expecting the puck to be lying there in the blue paint or in the net.
Agreed. Hopefully we find out Freddy is heading to LTIR tomorrow and Dubby acquires Ullmark, Bernier, Raanta or Kuemper to split duties with Soup.

Remember how cocky Helly was after the series in Toronto?
It was nice seeing him on the bench for the extra attacker.

When Matthews was run into the boards in the Flames game the Jets fans were ecstatic.

They would give an arm and a leg to reverse time and try to take Matthews over Laine any day of the week.

Schiefele is lazy AF and he is supposed to be the number 1 c.

Only Ehlers and Helle scare me. Morrissey is okay but Marner and Tavares danced around him.

Well it’s been 36 games already and the “damn” hasn’t broken yet, at this point I’m just hoping they are going to show up for the playoffs and be useful because as of now our $11m captain has become an average 2C and our supposedly 4th best forward is a good 2nd liner. These guys should be able to play with anyone as their 3rd and feast against other teams, looking at last year, nylander-Tavares-Mikheyev/kerfoot/Engvall, they all worked, that line would dominate others and would sometimes be our best line, this year, maybe 2 games that line as been better then the Matthews line for a complete 60, but maybe last year was an outlier as nylander was on pace for 37 goals

Post game quotes:

Matthews feeling good with wrist and shot, but knows Leafs PP needs work. "We're not doing a very good job getting looks. We tried some different things. It's super cliche, but we have to keep it simple. We need one to go in and then we can relax."

Asked Matthews about his wrist: "It's getting there. It's progressing, it's feeling a lot better, so I can't complain."

Auston Matthews on Jack Campbell: "Soup's awesome."

Kerfoot on Campbell: "It has been seamless for him."
