We got some value for some lower-end assets and who knows, maybe we even got the best player in the deal. Not much to complain about...

Moore is a 4th/3rd line tweener, but he does play with heart. Has an engine that never stops going.

Few questions for you lot - does Clifford Pk?

Also, how is Campbell? Does he excel when getting left out to dry? hahah... oh boy I'm scared..

No, Clifford has not killed penalties historically. A little more than 6 minutes of time on ice this year on the PK.

Campbell has maintained ok numbers this year behind a bad team and had phenomenal numbers last year behind an even worse team. He does come up with big saves. He could potentially excel in Toronto.

This is like going from the Chicago White Sox to the Yankees or the Jaguars to the Cowboys.

Interesting to see how they handle it with the media, especially Campbell.

at this point, there are few places to go but up.

At least this is more fun to watch that last season. Or 1996. Or 2006

I'm not really sure how this is more fun than last season except for I get more MacDermid. I guess Lizotte being out there is fun? Leipsic was entertaining people on here last year though so I don't know.

I'd take 1996 and 2006 in a heartbeat over this trash. I know all the Gretzky drama but just having him is more exciting than anything we are getting this year. Toss in Marty and all the other fighters and at least stuff was happening. Yachmenev was something to get excited about as was the big Perreault break out.

2006 has a great year from Lubo and its the first year after the lockout so we get to see Cammalleri and Brown full time. Gleason showed more promise than any of our current young defenseman and Sean Avery was extremely entertaining. Regardless, we just a lost a full season so it was great to just get hockey back.

This current team--and last year's--are the most boring Kings teams I've ever watched. Excruciating. Toss in the Fox/Faust combo and it isn't close.

So what is the alternative? Arguably the worst team in the NHL the last 2 seasons is not supposed to move an expiring contract for much needed draft capital?

Hate to break it to you, but the Kings are rebuilding.

The alternative is to retain those whose value exceeds the return. Clifford is worth more to this rebuilding franchise than a 3rd round pick. No, not on the boxscore, but in ways that develop and maintain a "team", and frankly, that particular skill went from being the singular defining characteristic of the Cup winning squads to something that is now completely absent. The "core" of this team doesn't supply it - they needed it from others not just to win Cups, but to win just a playoff game much less series.

Of course, maybe Clifford wanted to move on or maybe he signs back in the summer. If that is the case, yay, free picks. If not, it's a big net loss.

Toss in the Fox/Faust combo

Seriously. I don't mind bad hockey, I grew up watching some bad teams, so I can watch almost anything. I have hockey on basically every day, because I enjoy the sport. Fox/Faust and the broadcast in general has seriously made it hard to watch the Kings this season. I just have it muted at this point because they make me so irritated sometimes. I also don't get why our broadcast refuses to show out of town highlights or talk about things going on around the league. Watch any other teams broadcast and the intermissions are packed full of hockey/NHL talk and in depth discussion about the game. Instead we are given tweets by random people? Who thought that was in any way interesting?

When I say 1996, I mean the 96-97 season, so move your calendar forward a year

in the 1996-97 gretzky was gone by then, yachmenev was blind without gretz and I think Yannic had his hot streak that next season

same goes with 06 I mean 06-07
Gleason was gone. Avery was kicked off the team then given a chance. other than it being Kopitar's rookie year, it was pretty dismal . It was the Cloutier year

Yeah, the whole production needs an overhaul. Can we also scrap interviewing players in between periods? Utterly pointless.

Clifford may have given it his all but there wasn't much to give. Not much offense, ok defense, did not hit hard for a 'gritty' player. His fighting was average after he'd been rocked a few times years ago. He is a useful NHLer but you guys are making him out to be something he isn't.

Obviously not blaming him but if he's so good in the locker room and such a role model, why is he not moving the needle for this team for years, we've been ass for a very long time. I don't think this will have any negative impact in the room or on the ice.

Sorry for the confusion. We are currently in the 2020 season since it goes by the year the Cup is awarded.

'97 season was total trash but give me all the Laperriere, Matt Johnson and--personal favorite--Zmolek that I can handle, please. Norstrom was also more promising than any young guys on this current roster.

2007? Kopitar's first career goal is more exciting than every exciting thing that has happened this year. We knew we had a stud #1 center on our hands. Right now, we are hoping that we have bottom pairing D in Roy/Walker and maybe a Top 6 winger in Grundstrom. No hit stats for Brown until the following season, when he had 311. Rest assured he was near that total in this season as well. Do the Kings have 300 hits as a team this year? The future was much brighter in 2007 at the NHL level than it is with this team.

It's all personal preference in the end, but I never missed a game from 1997-98 until last season and it was still rare last year. This season, I'll forget there is a game even being played. Unthinkable just a few years ago.

Clifford can PK. If your coach likes to have bottom-sixes PK to save your top six for other times, Clifford can do that for you.

I see Campbell as a backup that could start, but not gonna carry your team in the end. He has some good games, but won't steal many. He has a very good glove hand, but not the kind of flashy style that's going to get you out of your seat. Good move for Toronto to grab a decent goalie to get them to the end of the season in case Andersen is out for a while.

fully agree with the kings broadcasts. the intermissions have to be the worse in the league. I have been bitching about out of town highlights for a year or two. But don't worry soon we will get bark f***ign madness! I have been watching the other teams broadcasts for most of the year on nhl.tv. Unless its the sharks or ducks as they are too homer for me.

As for the play by play call, i don't mind it. Hard to replace miller. What's the saying, "you don't want to be the guy who replaces the legend, you want to be the guy who replaces the guy who replaced the legend".

Kinda back to my original point, last season was unwatchable.
It is frustrating watching multiple craig johnsons on the ice that can't score, but at least they care

Does he have a tendency to let in softies? Hutchinson either stoned the other team or let them score from anywhere. Leafs just need a guy who can consistently make routine saves.

Campbell's positioning is pretty good. Every goalie has let in the odd ugly one but campbell no more than average I would say

Ya 06-07 had Kopitar (19), Cammalleri (24), Frolov (24), Brown (22). Jack Johnson was on his way later in the year. POS was 21.

This year the player we are most excited about is Blake Lizotte, he's a great story and a gritty little player, but good lord come on.
