You were not there.

If you met Ovechkin before you would know that he is awful to fans and treats them like garbage.

I have and he was nice to us. Granted we're Caps fans and it was in DC, but I didn't see him treat anyone like garbage. Anyway, I don't believe you.

There are too many stories with proof, both video and photo, that contradict this for anyone to simply go "Well, tntkid said it on HFBoards" and turn Ovechkin into some sort of fan-hating villain.

I can understand him being decent to Caps fans in Washington.

Every time Ovechkin came to Winnipeg in the last 6 seasons he is rude to fans and ignores them including children.
People that have not met him in real life outside of Washington have no clue how he is off the ice.
Great player but just a jerk in real life.

Holtby on the other hand is a class act and treats fans like gold.
You are luck to have him in Washington and he is a greet goalie.

And for all we know, Holtby might be a complete POS.

Charles Barkley said it best:

So... let me guess, he didn't sign an autograph. That doesn't make someone a jerk. Athletes aren't obligated to stop and have a conversation with you or take a selfie/sign your stuff just because you want them to.

I could understand if you wish Ovy good luck and he spit in your face and kicked a puppy, but people need to get over celebrities not personally devoting time to you on a whim. If you wouldn't demand that from a "normal" person you can't hold famous people to the same standard.

Anyone that blows off kids is not cool in my book.

Half the people that stick up for players like this have not even met any superstar players in the NHL.
lofl and smh.

What difference does it make if anyone has met a superstar player or not? That doesn't change the fact that no one is obligated to take a selfie with you just because you know who they are. If you woke up tomorrow and everyone on the planet wanted to stop and chat with you and take your picture you wouldn't be a terrible human being for declining those offers.

Tell that to 5 year olds that are wearing his jersey.

Unless you're with your kid and the situation seems propice to this I never understood people who would randomly go talk to famous people. My hats off to guys like Crosby or anyone else who are so patient with so many people.I would go nuts and avoid public places at all cost if people started to come talk to me.I hate small talk, and this looks like small talk hell.

I would organize schedules so I could see kids and sign autographs, but otherwise I'd want to be left alone, and I leave people alone.

Sure. Ovechkin isn't obligated to stop and devote time to every child who he passes just like you're not obligated to submit to the demands of any child you happen to pass by. Sometimes people have commitments. Sometimes people aren't in good moods. Sometimes people just don't like interacting with strangers. Get over it.
