Wrong about what exactly? I am speaking impartially here, not from a Leafs fans perspective. I have no dog in whether Nylander plays in the NHL or not.

Dubas said a day ago, Nylander must master the AHL first before moving to the NHL.

Clearly this tells us, where the Leafs see Nylander.

Dubas on Nylander:

About why Nylander isn't in the NHL. You've already been shown how you're wrong, you're just not willing to acknowledge facts, no matter how many are presented. Nylander is clearly NHL ready, he was ready at training camp, it was a foregone conclusion he'd be going to the AHL, this has also been stated by Dubas (not in those exact words), was mentioned on TV last week, I believe Bob McKenzie has also said the same before.

But you've already heard all of this, don't know why I'm wasting my time, you clearly don't have any intention of paying attention to facts. Nylander will almost certainly not be in the NHL this season and it's not because he isn't NHL ready, it's because it's part of the plan.

No, did you just read the quote by Dubas I posted? He said this just a day ago. You and other Leafs fans seemed to believe what he said earlier this summer. Not so much now? Why?

I think you are ignoring what Shanahan and Dubas have said.

The quotes are from them. Either you believe them, or the only plausible response you are giving me is they are not telling the truth, because you say Nylander is ready for the NHL despite the quotes and actions of the Leafs that say he is not.

For this, I think Nylander is close to as Dubas says 'forcing their hand' if he can sustain his play consistently.

The position of Shanahan and Dubas are both lying is not a convincing rebuttal to me.

Not saying they're lying, but they aren't exactly saying that he'll be called up soon either. That quote doesn't give any timeline, it could mean that if he continues this play throughout the AHL season he'll have earned a spot for next year. We don't know. You're assuming he means that Nylander could be up soon, when nothing he said points towards that.

Someone asked me on the Main board was I surprised Nylander was sent down weeks ago. If you do a historical check of my posts, I said no. Because as the games got tougher. Non rookie and spilt squad games. He did not do as Shanahan said forced his way onto the Leafs.

Now, I did not think he was far off. This is how I feel today. And Dubas confirmed a day ago what I thought also. Nylander is close but not there yet. The quotes from Shanny and Dubas are consistent to why Nylander is in the AHL.

I don't think he will be there all year, and based on what Dubas and Shanny have said. If he can master the AHL game, he will be up with the Leafs, most likely before the year is over.

So you think he'll be up this season. I think they stick to the plan and keep him in the AHL. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

If anyone that has seen Nylander play this season thinks that he is not currently an NHL calibre hockey player they need to do some more "NHL Watching."

To any one paying attention to the Leafs it's quite clear that "good enough" is no longer good enough for the young talents that are expected to takes the reins moving forward.

Nylander is ready to play in the NHL. He is not ready to be the player they want him to be, but hey, the number of 19 year old defensively responsible top 6 centres is the league isn't exactly high.

Fact: Babcock/Lamoriello/Dubas/Shanahan dont think Nylander is "NHL ready". If they believed he was NHL ready he would be in the NHL.

Opinion that is most likely true: Nylander could play in the NHL and do better than quite a few current Leafs.

Yall know that NHL readyness is a subjective thing right? And the great thing about that is that each of you guys can have his opinion on it without being wrong!!

nylander himself wasn't content with the way he was producing early this year. I think the AHL crop gets some NHL time after the TDL

It was interesting. Couple games ago, the Utica Comet announcers were saying Nylander should be in the NHL and that it made no sense to them why he wasn't. It kinda gave you the impression that they felt the marlies were kind of cheating having a guy who was obviously NHL calibre on their minor team.

LOL @ "cheating"...it's called having a young stud prospect. Those Utica commentators better get used to it because we have a bunch more on their way in the next couple of years namely a kid named Marner ;)

Yup. When OTHER teams have dynamite prospects coming up, it's because they're super smart and focus on drafting and development. When the Leafs do........THEY'RE CHEATING.

:)

AHL announcers are incredibly biased to their team. There was one announcer last game that called Brennan a pest because he was jumping up in the play in the last few minutes of the game trying to get a hat trick goal, and was equally pissed at Keefe for putting Justin Johnson out there on the powerplay in the final minutes because (in his words) he felt that Keefe was "disrespecting" the B-Sens

And its even worse in the playoffs.

According to the Marlies' coach he still has to work on his play away from the puck:

“To me he’s had a very productive time here which is important, we always want to make sure he’s having a productive time here,†said Marlies coach Sheldon Keefe. “The early going has been great. He’s made progress, in the early going it’s far from perfect, especially away from the puck. He’s gotten better in that area and he continues to work at it.€

Do you guys like to be offended or something? They didn't say it was cheating, a Toronto poster made that opinion up for them

No kidding!
I listened to that game as Utica is the Canuck's AHL team and in no way did the announcers say that the Marlies were cheating.

Here's the original post:

LOL!

It was the same during Leafs pre-season. His offensive talent is evident - however his play away from the puck was in obvious need of improvement. I think improving that will dictate how quickly he is in the NHL. But he's a great player so it shouldn't be too much longer before he's ready for the next level.

Most close to the leafs seem to believe, rightly or wrongly, that Nylander in the AHL has less to do with him being ready for the Leafs full time and more the opposite. Getting their issues within the NHL group sorted before introducing their most important futures to it.

The rest being generally fan lip service. Take that for what you will, but I think it makes a lot of sense and it also aligns properly with why a player like Connor Brown, who has more of a two way game and also was one of our best players in camp was also sent back.

There's also a financial benefit to consider with Nylander being kept down this year, and also the move back to center.

12gp: 7g - 7a - 14p. +6

Puts him 5th league wide in scoring with 2-3 less GP than 1st-4th

Said it before, under any other recent management groups Nylander would have made the Leafs this season. He's stuck playing in the same city for significantly less money, which is a huge motivation for any player.

Wasn't the biggest fan of his effort on the forecheck or battling along the boards, but the Marlies head coach has mentioned his play without the puck continues to improve.

Meh, he's pretty good on both ends. Management is making excuses for not bringing him up because they're tanking and he'd be our best forward.

You put a lot of effort into following a prospect that doesn't even play for your team.
