Remember when people used the argument that Nylander was a better prospect because he was playing well in a better league than the other prospects were? Funny how that doesn't matter anymore.

After 10 years, you really think Babcock would have dressed Larkin? That it isn't a coincidence?

Too funny.

That has nothing to do with my post at all.

You're just trying to derail the thread.

So you agree with me that we should take into consideration other things and not just who is playing in the highest/best league right?

Because all I heard last year was "Nylander is playing in the AHL at age 18. Prospect A is only playing the NCAA. Prospect B is only playing in the OHL. This is proof that Nylander is clearly the better prospect."

But now, there are other factors we should take into consideration? Who woulda thunk it huh?

And again, I haven't mentioned Larkin. You two Leafs fans have though for some reason.

I never said they would be. But Nylander will be another year older, stronger, and very likely more confident. I think he can probably handle the "suckage" much better.

You know another interesting fact is that for the past two years, Nylander had been going back and forth switching teams mid year. This year is a year where he can finally have some consistency if he doesnt get called up. I think thats one of the main reasons the leafs sent him down.

Indeed. It's also an opportunity to build chemistry with his future Leafs teammates.

Honestly man, its pretty damn obvious what you're doing. Why else would a Detroit fan be in here talking about how Nylander compares to his peers. Who the **** cares what we did last year? Its time to move on and talk about what Nylander is doing NoW.

Thats my friendly advice of the ****ing day.

Either your reading comprehension was really bad or you are a liar. I don't remember anyone saying that. Feel free to provide links, though.

I've been so busy with work and home life (my gosh terrible twos are tiring,) I've barely got to follow any AHL. Would anyone mind giving me a quick blurb on how William has looked this year? In comparison to teammates?

I would read past pages but its far too hard to sift through the childish bickering. It really sucks when you can't keep up on prospects due to the pissing contests.

He's looked good. Consistently dangerous offensively with a sense that there's still untapped potential, smart transition game and great reads without the puck. What is missing is in-game consistency, intensity and sometimes he gets caught puck staring defensively.

There are areas to work on, but from what I've read he's very dedicated to becoming a reliable two-way player and works very hard on working out the kinks in his game, so that's positive.

I'd say that the likely scenario is that he arrives in the NHL for next season, but he's got a tendency to develop faster and better than expected so TDL is a possibility.

Nylander is doing good. 12 points in 11 games is nothing to sneeze at. He currently sits 7th in the AHL scoring but has played a game less than others. However one guy got called up I think so hes actually 6th .

I am VERY surprised the AHL scoring leader only has 15 points in 13 games. Dead puck worse there than in the NHL ???

How has Nylander been with faceoffs?

Here and there. Some nights he gets totally owned, but he's finding his way and he wins his fair share. Last night he was pretty good. One thing to note is that he faces the best centremen on every team so he's gonna have hiccups.

Also note he's tied for 5th in AHL scoring at the moment iirc.

Thanks for the insight. :)

Thanks to the others who answered as well. Exciting to hear.

Nice to hear man. Thanks.

Even as a fan of a division rival, it's so easy to see his talent. He looked great when I saw him play about a week ago. The offensive talent sure is dynamic to say the least. I Look forward to watching him again next time the Marlies come to town.

Doing great in the AHL. Maybe he makes the NHL next year

I'm of the opinion that the AHL this year for him is primarily about establishing if he will continue going forward as a center or winger and either way that plays out he is with the Leafs next season. He is NHL ready now if he was to play wing but still clearly has some work to do if he is to establish himself as a ready to take a crack as a top six NHL center next year. Sure him not playing up with the big club affects the bragging rights for prospect fans, but in case some draft day decisions next summer are so close on talent that positional need enters the conversation it would be nice to be confidant in what position you see a key piece like Nylander playing moving forward.

Would not be surprised if he's up later this season. He's ready, but they just want to make sure the team itself is the type of environment that can shelter a young player, and not drag them down... so once all the vets understand babcock's system through-and-through, we'll start seeing more prospects up.
